GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under minimal supervision designs, develops, modifies and evaluates mechanical components for mechanical and/or electromechanical medical devices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Will determine and implement design approaches and parameters and conduct feasibility studies on new designs.
• Will analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate the results.
• Will select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
• Will aid in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable and reliable.
• May assist in evaluating vendor capability to support development.
• Will submit periodic reports on assigned topics to supervisor.
• Will interact with marketing personnel, surgeons and other related parties to determine functional specifications.
• May interact with customers to resolve product issues.
• Will have interaction and perform testing on cadavers and animals.
• Will be responsible for PPQA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 0-4 years related design engineering experience.
• B.S. in mechanical engineering or related curriculum.
• Must have medical device experience, preferably working with minimally invasive products.
• CAD knowledge/experience preferred.
• Knowledge of machining and GD&T preferred.
• 0-4 years related design engineering experience.
• B.S. in mechanical engineering or related curriculum.
• Must have medical device experience, preferably working with minimally invasive products.
