Job Description

An opportunity exists for a Principal System Studies Engineer at MEPPI. As the Principal System Studies Engineer you will independently lead and perform power systems engineering studies and analysis in specific areas of electromagnetic transient phenomena, load flow, short circuit, transient stability, control design, equipment applications and other technical areas as needed. Independently prepare and present technical reports and presentations for all studies performed. Lead preparation of proposals in response to customer specifications and technical information requests for power systems engineering analysis, system studies, and other technical projects. Must be willing to travel 15%.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years experience in power systems studies consulting field or in the electric utility system planning field or with T&D manufacturer’s application engineering groups, or equivalent education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of electric power systems and equipment operation and control.
• Advanced organization, presentation, communication and technical writing skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
• Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products.
• Proficiency in the operation and implementation of the following programming and modeling tools:
- Electromagnetic transients type programs such as EMTP, ATP, EMTDC, or other similar programs.
- Load flow, short circuit, and transient stability programs such as GE-PSLF, PSS/E, or other similar programs.
- SPICE, MATLAB, MATHCAD, etc. and Internet related software (HTML and JAVA).
