Job Description
The Bureau of Reclamation in Yuma, Arizona is seeking persons interested in the position of Computer Engineer/Specialist to work in the organization’s Desalting Group. The Desalting Group Computer Engineer supports computer systems that operate or are involved in the operation and maintenance of the Yuma Desalting Plant (YDP), Water Quality Improvement Center (WQIC), YAO Analytical Laboratory (Lab), and YAO Information Technology (IT) Administration services. The Computer Engineer is the primary support specialist for plant control and data collection systems, and will ensure Desalting compliance with IT Security requirements.
We are looking for interested persons with the following background and qualifications:
Experience in researching, purchasing, installing, and administering software used to protect LAN and desktop machines from equipment failure and viruses.
Knowledgeable in the application of Distributive Control Systems(DCS)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used in the water treatment industry.
Able to provide technical support to engineers, technicians, and managers in the area of the computer systems process and operational control.
Experienced in designing systems and conducting feasibility studies preliminary to application system changes, or proposed changes in equipment.
Knowledgeable of current industry trends, developments, and applications in micro system devices, components, and software.
Able to complete analytical and evaluation tasks concerned with installing, testing, integrating, maintaining and modifying existing computer systems and assisting others in the use of those systems.
General understanding of contract administration regulations pertaining to contract modifications and enforcement of specification requirements.
The Bureau of Reclamation is best known for the dams, power plants and irrigation infrastructure it constructed throughout the 17 western states. These water projects led to homesteading and promoted the economic development of the western United States.
The Yuma Area Office (YAO) is the Lower Colorado (LC) Region’s operations and maintenance arm, and actively supports the LC Regional Director’s responsibilities for water delivery, groundwater management, and environmental conservation and restoration. The YAO is responsible for operating and maintaining approximately 275 miles of the Colorado River from Davis Dam to the southern international border with Mexico.
