Job Description
The primary responsibilities of this position include project management and coordination of the bridge design efforts of other technical staff; communicating with Department and/or other Project Managers regarding scope and tasks of the project; informing the Department Manager of work status, workload, progress of the work, and engineering budget; preparing accurate calculations of structural loads and structural specifications to meet project requirements for bridge superstructures, substructures, and other required structures; developing overall sketches/plans needed to prepare drawings for projects; communicating concepts to staff who will be preparing detailed drawings; assisting in the preparation of construction cost estimates; and assisting in marketing company expertise and services.
Requirements include a bachelor's degree in structural/civil engineering; P.E. licensure, minimum of 8 years experience with relevant bridge design background, leadership, and supervisory responsibility; knowledge and ability to perform calculations quickly and accurately; experience with pre-stressed concrete, steel and concrete bridge design; familiarity with reference materials and where/how to find information needed in professional work; excellent communication skills; strong organizational, time and resource-management skills; and a commitment to maintaining the company's professional image and reputation for error free work.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in civil/structural engineering and bridge inspection experience.
