Chief I&C Engineer

Calpine owns, leases and operates integrated systems of fuel-efficient natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plants.

Manages all activities of the I&C engineering department. Manages department activities, through subordinates, relating to the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation, including plant Distributed Control System (DCS), gas turbines, steam turbine control systems, generators, transformers, and switchgear. Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Responsible for formulation and implementation of department policies, procedures and guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accomplishes work through others. Manages the I&C Engineering function with an operational focus.
• Manages employees performing related duties including full human resources, cost and budgetary accountabilities
• Decisions typically related to resources, project approach, and tactical operations.
• Results have significant impact on costs and the achievement of function objectives or project-based goals.
• Makes decisions for large-scale projects, a closely related set of projects and initiatives involving own and possibly related functional areas.
• Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules and goals.
• Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems for a function.
• Manages the I&C Engineering function. Regularly manages large-scale projects/activities or a very closely related set of projects/activities.
• Responsible for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions for support and professional levels.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Previous work leadership or senior level contributor experience.
• Typically requires minimum of 10+ years in area of specialization
