Job Description
The Center for Advanced Mineral and Metallurgical Processing (CAMP), a Center of Montana Tech in Butte, Montana, seeks applications for the Director position. CAMP provides advanced research and technology transfer services in support of industry. The Director is responsible for maintaining a program of excellence related to materials, mineral, and energy resource development, metallurgical processing, and environmental remediation and stewardship. The Director's key responsibilities include: supervising Center staff, securing funding for leading edge research programs, and expanding the Center's industry outreach program and promoting rapid technology transfer and adoption of technologies developed by the Center.
The position requires an advanced degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline plus at least seven years of experience in academic research or industrial research/operations. Applicants must clearly state their experience in technical project management, conducting bench and pilot-scale research projects, securing research funding from public and private sector sources, supervising engineers and technicians, and fostering client relationships. Applicants should also specify their experience in analyzing laboratory and pilot plant data to determine process design criteria and in preparing, presenting, and publishing technical papers and reports. Requirements include the strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work with clients, CAMP staff, campus administration, faculty, and students.
