Position Description

Our mechanical and structural engineering team provides expertise to a variety of programs and product platforms. This engineering position will perform advanced structural and fracture analysis of spacecraft and aircraft structures, components and mechanical systems. Coordinates with other engineering groups, functions, partners and teams. Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Works with supervision by senior structural analysts. Position Description

Job position is with the Phantom Works Huntsville Advanced Design and Prototyping and Design Solutions (ADaPS) space systems organization. Provides engineering support new business pursuits and internal research and development programs as part of Phantom Works. Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide technical support to DoD customers in planning, definition, development and test & evaluation to validate and verity the integration of software models that includes mission threads depicting collaborating software components accomplishing critical functionality.

Requirements

Education: Masters or PhD in Software/Computer Engineering or Computer Science

Experience: At least five years of professional work experience in Software Engineering. Experience working in a classified development environment is a plus.

Skills: The successful candidate must have current knowledge of DoD air and missile defense systems and be proficient in software systems engineering analysis and practices. The individual must display strong presentation and writing skills and be able to interact with government and prim contractor engineers and scientists on design implementations.

Other: Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain a DoD security clearance. Current DoD security clearance is highly preferred. Selection process will include passing a pre-employment background screening.

Job Title: Software Safety Systems Engineer (Research Engr/Scientist II, Sr Research E

The System Software Engineer will apply modern software development practices and languages to include Model Driven Development, Agile Methods, Use Cases, UML, Algorithms, C++, Java, Code Analysis, Test Plan Development, Verification and Validation of software capabilities to include tracing to code, automated tools for requirements tracking (DOORS), software development (e.g. auto code generators), software modeling (e.g. Rational Software Architect) and verification.

Experience with large weapons systems (e.g. THAAD, PATRIOT, Aegis, MDA BMDS) and Army Acquisition a plus.

Desired Experience: Experience with System Safety and Software Systems Safety Engineering requirements and practices such as MIL-STD-882, Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook, AMCOM 385-17 and/or STANAG 4404, Fault Tree and Functional Hazard Analysis.

Position requires that candidate must have the ability to obtain and retain a DoD security clearance in order to access classified information. Current secret clearance highly preferred.
