Project Engineer II (Willis Engineering, Inc)

Job Title: Project Engineer II

1. Direct all internal team communication relating to project production progress through higher level team members.
2. Direct all external communication with clients and consultants through higher level team members.
3. Obtain an advanced knowledge of the use of the structural details and general structural notes.
4. Obtain an advanced knowledge of all office procedures.
5. Obtain an advanced knowledge of all Engineering Department policies and procedures.
6. Perform the following under indirect supervision from higher level team members:
A. Generate project design criteria information.
B. Analyze and generate structural calculations with respect to vertical/lateral loads and foundation (Conventional/Post Tension) design and assist in the preparation of construction documents for framing, shear wall, foundation plans and structural details.
C. Review soils report information and determine foundation design intent.
D. Review shop drawing submittals.
E. Prepare responses to governing municipality plan review comments.
F. Perform site observations.
G. Analyze and generate structural calculations with respect to framing and foundation retrofit designs.
H. Prepare construction documents for retrofits to framing, shear wall, foundation and structural details.
I. Commit to project deadlines and general schedule defined by higher level team members and immediately notify them if schedule or deadline is jeopardized.
J. Consistently communicate project related design issues to higher level team members.
K. Review own work for accuracy and thoroughness.
L. Enter project related information in the project information database.

Education:

Required: Professional education in Civil or Structural Engineering (B.S, M.S etc) and 2+ years of experience in the Structural Engineering field
Or
High School Diploma and 6+ years experience in the Structural Engineering field

Preferred: Professional education in Civil or Structural Engineering (B.S, M.S etc) and 4+ years of experience in the structural Engineering field.

Licenses/Certificates:

Required: Engineer In Training (E.I.T)

Sargent is also a major supplier of hydraulic control valves to the US Navy on all Nuclear Class Submarine programs. Sargent has an immediate opening for a midlevel Design Drafter.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Using input provided by the Project Engineer in the form of concept sketches and marked drawings, prepares engineering layouts showing the relationship and arrangement of components for development of new products.
* With minimal supervision, prepares complex sectional and/or external layouts to resolve envelope concerns, functional or interference problems.
* Checks all engineering documents created for each assigned project to ensure conformance to all company and/or contractually specified standards for drafting practice, dimensioning and tolerancing, material specifications, etc.
* Assists the Project Engineer in determining and implementing the method of dimensioning engineering drawings for each assigned project.
* Creates installation and assembly layouts to verify local clearances between mating and adjacent parts.
* Performs complex tolerance and dimensional stackups of all parts and assemblies comprising an assigned project.
* Advises Drafters in concerns of drafting procedures, dimensioning and tolerancing, view placement, etc.
* Assists the Acting Drafting Administrator in the preparation of the Drafting Procedures Manual.
* Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Requires four years of high school studies or GED plus college level courses in advanced mathematics, solid geometry and computer-aided design
* 2 years minimum experience as a CAD Design Drafter or an Associate�s degree in Computer Aided Drafting
* Pro/Engineer Wildfire or CATIA V5 experience a plus
* Machine shop or inspection background is highly valued
* Must be proficient in all aspects of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
* U.S. Citizen mandatory
Must be able and willing to work extra time as required to ensure completion of all assigned projects.

Requirements:
* Bachelor�s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer preferred)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent MS Office skills

Preferred Skills:
* Familiarity with metal forming and manufacturing methods and processes
* Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects
* Strength and stress analysis experience (hand calcs or FEA)
* MathCAD software familiarity

Primary Job Functions:
* Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
* Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
* Review designs for completeness and proper application of engineering principles.
* Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs.
* Interaction with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
* Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
* Direct designers and drafters in design concepts and optimization
* Provide direction and assist in the qualification test programs.

Requirements:

U.S. Citizen

Preferred Education:
� Knowledge of digital and analog motor controllers, harmonics, PWM, 3-phase motors, embedded systems, control algorithms, hardware design, power electronics, and power supplies.
� Experience designing 3-phase motor controllers, from the component level through the system level is a plus.
� Responsible for developing power solutions, providing schematics and documentation, debugging, testing, and evaluating performance.
� Software ability to program in C and ASSEMBLY.
� Responsible for design and development of variable speed motor control including magnetic structures and specification of magnetic material for a BLDC permanent magnet motor
� Design of circuits including schematic generation and board layout.
� Orcad experience.
