HiT Software, based in San Jose, is looking for a dynamic, motivated software engineer to write and implement tests for new and existing products, across multiple platforms. You will also develop, modify and test programs and scripts, as well as track and report test results. You�ll be working closely with the development team and you�ll also be a back up customer support engineer (1st and 2nd level). This position requires:

�Firsthand experience developing automated tests using scripts, tools, and programming languages
�Excellent knowledge of SQL language
�Good knowledge of C++ and/or C#
�Sound understanding of database connectivity such as ODBC, OLE DB, JDBC and .NET Providers
�Proven experience with:
-At least one DBMS (preferably DB2, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server)
-Development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio
-Personal productivity tools (email, MS Office, internet, etc.)
�Strong communications skills (verbal and written) to communicate with developers (in the US and Europe) and with customers/partners around the world

Supports the conceptual design and operation of water treatment facilities at Calpine�s combined cycle power plants. Performs regular site visits to review current water treatment systems, equipment and programs and develops recommendations for compliance and performance improvements; develops corresponding action plans. Reviews chemical treatment costs, goals and projects and recommends programs and initiatives to realized cost savings including action plans. Develops recommendations and structures for standard monitoring systems, procedures, lab/chemical/reagent management, training, chemical purchasing/bidding and performance metrics. Provides substantial input to water technology/treatment standards and practices.

Position is responsible for managing multiple external relationships including representing Calpine in vendor negotiations and addressing regulatory concerns. Leads water treatment safety and compliance activities. Writes and reviews discharge permits and meets with permitting authorities to address concerns and respond to inquiries. Serves as primary interface with vendors including, but not limited to chemical and equipment suppliers. Negotiates pricing and service agreements. Writes bid templates and specifications and performs bid cost analysis and technical reviews. Meets with plant water treatment specialists and discusses ongoing activities, problems, equipment, compliance and treatment programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

� Uses independent judgment requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Independently selects methods, techniques, analytical approach and evaluation criteria.
� Determines methods and procedures for new assignments.
� Serves as project/technical lead on medium to large projects; regularly coordinates work of professionals, technicians and others outside of own department.
� Trains and mentors employees on technical skills
� Collaborate and solve problems ? works with others to resolve significant issues, clarify or interpret complex information, provide initial screening/negotiations.
� Supports the development process of new projects by integrating resources across Calpine departments/functions such as Business Development, Finance, Environmental and Legal.

Primary responsibilities include:
�Designs new and modifies existing tools and fixtures used in production
�Creates and studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
�Verifies conformance of finished workpieces to specifications
�Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of programming of design part
�Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
�Tests designed parts for fit and functionality
�Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated
�Programs, sets up and operates machine to make prototype samples
�Follows up designs with detailed documentation
�Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
�Knowledge of MasterCam 3D Modeling Software
�Knowledge and fluency with Solidworks 3D Modeling software
�Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under minimal supervision designs, develops, modifies and evaluates mechanical components for mechanical and/or electromechanical medical devices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

� Will determine and implement design approaches and parameters and conduct feasibility studies on new designs.

� CAD knowledge/experience preferred.
