The MTA-Long Island Rail Road is currently seeking a Chief Engineer to head its complex Engineering Department with 1,700 employees of varying disciplines, multiple unions and an operating budget of tens of millions of dollars.  A candidate must be a dynamic and innovative individual with strong leadership skills and a diverse engineering technical &amp; management background. The major responsibility of this position is for the maintenance, repair, &amp; inspection of all fixed property to ensure safe &amp; reliable commuter rail operations in compliance with industry standards and federal regulatory guidelines. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The responsibilities also include design reviews for Capital Projects as well as the deployment of resources and support equipment in connection with a significant number of LIRR Capital Projects that have installation work done by LIRR forces.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Candidates must possess (i) railroad operations management experience at a senior level; (ii) a sound understanding of railroad engineering including, preventive, remedial and life cycle maintenance; (iii) a varied background in railroad engineering, especially civil engineering; and (iv) technical expertise in all RR engineering disciplines (signal, power, communication, track). A Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline is required. A Professional Engineer's License is desirable, but not mandatory.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
