Electrical Engineering – Job Outlook

Electrical engineers should see overall employment growth in the 6 percent range in the 10 years leading up to 2016, however that is a little slower than the job growth for all occupations as a whole. Although strong demand for electrical devices—including electric power generators, wireless phone transmitters, high-density batteries, and navigation systems—should spur job growth, competition from international corporations and companies using engineering services outside the U.S. will hinder employment growth. The best job prospects should be had by electrical engineers who work in firms providing engineering expertise and design services to manufacturers.
