Purpose of position: Serve as manager and lead engineer of the Facilities Design group within ITS Networking and Telecommunications. Perform telecom engineering and project management duties as well as provide assistance and technical expertise to campus. Act as point of contact for ITS portions OFPC and PMCS projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Essential functions: Manages Facilites Design group within ITS Networking and Telecommunications, coordinating projects and activities including those with UT Austin's PMCS and UT System's OFPC. Prepares and reviews specifications and design drawings as applicable for new construction/remodels and manages those projects. Participates in strategic planning, standards development, internal controls, inspections, designs and budget preparation for campus network and telecom facilities. Coordinates with outside engineers and architects for design on projects. Participates as a team member in ITS supporting its mission and policies, and guides/develops subordinates.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Class &quot;C&quot; Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Marginal/Incidental functions: Other related functions as assigned.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. Professional Engineering License by the TX Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Three years experience in telecom facilities design. Three years of telecom Project Management including both design and construction phases of projects. Good written, and oral communication skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Preferred qualifications: More than three years of engineering, construction and project management experience with telecommunications systems. Experience in leading a team. Experience with inside and outside cable plant (copper and fiber). Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation. Familiar with NEC and NESC.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Working conditions: May work in all weather conditions. May work in extreme temperatures. May work around chemical fumes. May work around standard office conditions. May work around electrical and mechanical hazards. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs. Climbing of ladders. Lifting and moving.&lt;br /&gt;
Exposure to construction areas and telecommunication spaces.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. • Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems for a function. &lt;br /&gt;
• Manages the I&amp;C Engineering function. Regularly manages large-scale projects/activities or a very closely related set of projects/activities.  &lt;br /&gt;
• Responsible for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions for support and professional levels. &lt;br /&gt;

Education and Experience:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. &lt;br /&gt;

•Bachelor's degree in technical/engineering field. &lt;br /&gt;
•At least 5 years of electronics manufacturing or repair experience with demonstrated knowledge of Solder placement and soldering, hand assembly, and repair. &lt;br /&gt;
•Experience in leading cost reduction and continuous improvement projects. &lt;br /&gt;
•Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. &lt;br /&gt;
•Experienced in Word, Excel, MS Project&lt;br /&gt;
•Strong mechanical aptitude. &lt;br /&gt;
•Experience in leading lean projects.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
