Candidates should possess a four-year degree in an engineering, information systems or science discipline and at least five years of experience (Master's degree preferred) including direct experience working in the field interacting with field personnel. The experience we are looking for includes the development and deployment of data collection devices use in systems which collect and manage field data. Experience in providing hands-on training of the use of equipment, devices or systems used for data collection and management is desirable. &lt;br /&gt;

Experience with catalytic process such as petrochemical refining is a plus. Ability to clearly communicate and present information verbally and in written format are necessary. The Senior Machine Design Engineer (with a specialty in Automation and Lasers) has working knowledge of automation as it relates to the design of equipment, as well as inputs toward the design of products and assemblies made with this equipment.  Has worked with a broad range of automated manufacturing processes including use of CO2, YAG, and other lasers for marking, cutting, and welding various materials.  Has hands-on experience with common automation components including, but not limited to rotary indexers, stepper motors, vision systems, linear actuators, robotic components.  Ideally, over the course of career, has received utility patents for innovative machine/automation designs.  Works independently, taking the lead on the research, planning, development, and implementation of equipment, which requires small part assembly automation with a high level of complexity.  Provides technical support for existing automated processes for all plants, as well as new processes for various Project efforts including New Process Development, Blue Ribbon (new product), and Advanced Development.  &lt;br /&gt;

Representative Duties: &lt;br /&gt;
·         Leads automation project teams in the research, development, and implementation of:&lt;br /&gt;
·         Industry standard automation equipment that may be new to Shure, and can be incorporated into current or future manufacturing systems.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Automation technologies new to industry that can be used by Shure.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Automated manufacturing processes of proprietary nature to be used by Shure.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Automated technologies and manufacturing processes needed to support New Product and Advanced Development Teams.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Technologies and processes used to manufacture products in order to improve manufacturing impact on the environment.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Laser applications.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Creates project plans including, creation of schedules, design of experiments, development of equipment, budgetary considerations, and process implementation.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Periodically visits Manufacturing Facilities and suggests areas for process improvement and/or automation for the purposes of associate safety, cost reduction, and/or quality improvement.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Creates, maintains, and mentors others in department on project documentation, including but not limited to schedules, drawings, lab notebooks, process reports, and project files.&lt;br /&gt;
·         Acts as mentor to less senior engineers and support personnel in the area of machine automation.&lt;br /&gt;
