Founded in 1974, we have grown to over 400 employees, and produce nearly 400 guitars per day, distributed to dealers and distributors around the world. Our factory is toured daily by Taylor fans visiting from all over the world.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We are seeking a full-time Engineer-Level 1 to design guitar concepts and associated tooling and programs in accordance with our Product Development Department. Additionally the ideal candidate would have extensive experience operating CNC machinery including familiarity with guitar parts and functions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Primary responsibilities include:&lt;br /&gt;
•Designs new and modifies existing tools and fixtures used in production&lt;br /&gt;
•Creates and studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements&lt;br /&gt;
•Verifies conformance of finished workpieces to specifications&lt;br /&gt;
•Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of programming of design part &lt;br /&gt;
•Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly&lt;br /&gt;
•Tests designed parts for fit and functionality&lt;br /&gt;
•Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated&lt;br /&gt;
•Programs, sets up and operates machine to make prototype samples&lt;br /&gt;
•Follows up designs with detailed documentation&lt;br /&gt;
•Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Knowledge, skills and abilities required: &lt;br /&gt;
•Knowledge of MasterCam 3D Modeling Software&lt;br /&gt;
•Knowledge and fluency with Solidworks 3D Modeling software&lt;br /&gt;
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications&lt;br /&gt;
•Knowledge of general protocol and procedure pertaining to their area&lt;br /&gt;
•Skill of planning and prioritizing work activities&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to comprehend and apply principles of geometry, advanced calculus, modern algebra&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds&lt;br /&gt;
•Ability to get along with others and to work well in a team environment&lt;br /&gt;

Estimated Salary:  $45,000 – $48,000&lt;br /&gt;

Summary&lt;br /&gt;

Involvement in all phases of machine design, process improvement and equipment analysis. Oversees application of Manufacturing Engineering procedures and programs. This person will create concept and mechanical designs, provide project cost estimates, perform vendor selection, and generate sound financial justification.  Responsible for all phases of project proposals as well as management.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Duties and Responsibilities&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
•	Subject matter expert in design and fabrication process&lt;br /&gt;
•	Active in recommendation for best practices and use of technology&lt;br /&gt;
•	Interact with Industrial Engineers, Operations Management and Operators &lt;br /&gt;
•	Generate mechanical designs including specifications and requirements.&lt;br /&gt;
•	Work with vendors on material selection and fabrication processes&lt;br /&gt;
•	Work with electrical engineers and electricians to co-ordinate and design mechanical and electrical interfaces and controls.&lt;br /&gt;
•	Interact with maintenance group in data driven root cause analysis and equipment improvements&lt;br /&gt;
•	Act as technical mentor to other technical staff&lt;br /&gt;
•	Support pilot and production release of the products&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Qualifications / Requirements&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
•	Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering &lt;br /&gt;
•	Experience with machine and machine control design is required&lt;br /&gt;
•	Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical controls required&lt;br /&gt;
•	Six Sigma,  Continuous Improvement, and/or Lean Manufacturing knowledge is a plus.&lt;br /&gt;
•	Ability to design, develop, implement and improve integrated systems that include people, materials, information, equipment and cost.  &lt;br /&gt;
•	Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project, Database software/Access.&lt;br /&gt;
•	Intermediate to advanced skill level with CAD, Solid Works, and Visio software required&lt;br /&gt;
•	Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in order to achieve project deliverables and milestone deadlines&lt;br /&gt;
•	Must be able to lead equipment/process troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts&lt;br /&gt;
•	Digital image, video capabilities, and computer simulation a plus&lt;br /&gt;
•	Must have good written, oral and interpersonal skills&lt;br /&gt;
•	Position travels across country but does not travel internationally, up to 25% of the time&lt;br /&gt;
