Position Description:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;!--d--&gt;The Plumbing Designer is responsible for preparing construction drawings, which typically consists of:&lt;br /&gt;
	designing/sizing drain, waste, &amp; vent system.&lt;br /&gt;
	selecting water heaters.&lt;br /&gt;
	designing/sizing high &amp; low pressure gas systems.&lt;br /&gt;
	performing roof drain calculations.&lt;br /&gt;
	selecting booster pumps.&lt;br /&gt;

Position Requirements:&lt;br /&gt;
	Familiarity with the tasks listed above.&lt;br /&gt;
	College Degree preferred.&lt;br /&gt;
	3-5 Years experience.&lt;br /&gt;
	Proficient in AutoCAD.&lt;br /&gt;
	Familiar with state building codes and standard industry design practices.&lt;br /&gt;
	EI is preferred, but not required.&lt;br /&gt;

REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES AND REQUIRED PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:&lt;br /&gt;

1. Engineering Project Management Completions involvement.&lt;br /&gt;
Coordinate Sikorsky Global Helicopter (SGH) departments with supporting documentation for System and Interior completions on the company's line of helicopters; as it relates to SGH Engineering. This will include overall review of the SGH completion engineering activity and ensuring that the engineering tasks (such as customer data requirements, shop support, certification issues, engineering reports) are being completed within the scheduled time frames. Fully understand the contract requirements between Sikorsky and SGH for all engineering requirements for product completion. Coordinate with SGH completion team, SGH Engineering team, outside vendors and the aircraft program managers during the completions process. Resolve interdepartmental issues proactively. Monitor and report engineering labor cost performance against project budgets. Prepare statements of work to support subcontracting of outside services and 3rd party equipment. Develop and support quoting activities for engineering requirements as it relates to production, completions, 3rd party engineering, and Helicopter Services Division (HSD) activities. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2. Coordinate the use of outside Engineering consultants.&lt;br /&gt;
Coordinate the use of outside engineering consultants for successful certification projects. Coordinate the project objectives with outside contractors and manage the performance of the contractor to project budgets and schedules. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3.Develop and maintain department procedures and policies.&lt;br /&gt;
Develop and recommend to the Manager of Engineering, new department policies and procedures. When approved, implement the procedures, as approved, in a timely manner.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
4. Recommend new product business opportunities.&lt;br /&gt;
In the time frame assigned, perform analysis and present options with a recommended course of action to the Manager of Engineering for approval.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Program Management or equivalent degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience required. A strong knowledge of MS project, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word and the ability to manage multiple projects and people is required. Good interpersonal skills with an understanding of customer requirements and experience with managing production schedules required. Knowledge of aircraft completions, FAA certification procedures, production processes and engineering processes highly desired.&lt;br /&gt;

The Maintenance &amp; Engineering (M&amp;E) Department is recruiting to fill a vacant Employee Development Specialist (EDS) position.  The incumbent for this position will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs covering the safe operation and maintenance procedures for District equipment utilized within the Power &amp; Mechanical Maintenance area e.g., Mechanical Electrical. The primary function of the incumbent is to provide on-the-job training to Mechanical Electrical employees.  However, other duties may be assigned as needed. The incumbent will deliver instructional skills training for Traction Power &amp; Support Facilities. In addition the incumbent will be exposed to physical work in the following field environments: wayside, trackway, underground, inclement weather and climbing on and off equipment. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The successful candidate in this selection process will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- Experience in and knowledge of Electrical Mechanical Maintenance &lt;br /&gt;
- Knowledge of BART electrical systems and equipment &lt;br /&gt;
- Skill in conducting training sessions, developing audio-visual materials, and assessing the results of instructional programs &lt;br /&gt;
- Ability to monitor and evaluate performance standards &lt;br /&gt;

Essential Job Functions&lt;br /&gt;

1) Acts as a subject matter expert in assigned areas of instruction. &lt;br /&gt;

2) Delivers training programs for specialized Power and Mechanical maintenance equipment such as traction power systems, passenger lighting system controllers, protective relays, fire alarm systems, system facilities, extension areas and yard area equipment, interpretation of schematics descriptions. The incumbent will provide a verity of equipment training involving forklifts, manlifts, aerial truck type lifts, commercial class B vehicles and general safety related equipment training. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3) Develops and administers District certification programs, administers oral, written and practical test to assess effective training for regulatory and non-regulatory certification. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
4) Researches, analyzes and identifies specific training needs to support District activities and goals. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
5) Selects appropriate methodology, lesson and plan development, instructional materials, student handouts; schedules and coordinates training programs and activities. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
6) Prepares classroom environments, provides classroom and performances based field training using various instructional techniques. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
7)Writes technical material and creates drawings or schematics to support training programs. Maintains effective communication with trainees, instructors and department personnel in the course of business to achieve District training goals. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
8) Maintains technical knowledge within the current assignment, prepares reports and records of worked performed, provides accurate and timely preparation of documentation. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
9) Provides Hands-On instruction for the development of skill competency.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Minimum Qualifications&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Education: &lt;br /&gt;
An Associate degree with major course work in education, counseling or a related technical field from an accredited college. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Experience: &lt;br /&gt;

Additional qualifications are required for Employee Development Specialists assigned to designated areas. &lt;br /&gt;

Substitution: &lt;br /&gt;
Additional experience in assessing training needs, developing instructional materials, providing training to adults, or in the skill area to be trained as described above may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.  An Associate degree is preferred. &lt;br /&gt;

Power &amp; Mechanical Maintenance Requirements: &lt;br /&gt;
Must possess a valid California class (B) commercial driver license with the appropriate endorsements with no restrictions within the ninety (90) day probationary period. &lt;br /&gt;

Other Requirements: &lt;br /&gt;
Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. &lt;br /&gt;
May be required to work occasional off hours shifts to administer training programs. &lt;br /&gt;
Must be physically able to stand for extended periods of time and lift audio visual equipment and training materials weighing up to 50 pounds. &lt;br /&gt;
Must be physically able to climb on/off equipment. &lt;br /&gt;
Must be physically able to work in inclement weather.  &lt;br /&gt;
District certification as an Employee Development Specialist will be required and certification will cover all areas to be taught.  &lt;br /&gt;

	Establish and execute an equipment spare parts strategy that meets company objectives.&lt;br /&gt;
	Support and improve the issue escalation process to ensure alignment between Equipment Owners, On Call Engineers, Component Product and Product Engineering owners.&lt;br /&gt;
	Establish, report on and improve appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) consistent with organizational Balance Scorecard objectives and corporate philosophies. This may include but is not limited to:&lt;br /&gt;
o	Ensure manufacturing equipment performs in order to meet the safety, quality, regulatory, market availability and cost goals of the organization.&lt;br /&gt;
o	Improve the performance ratio between corrective and preventive maintenance  equipment actual reliability.&lt;br /&gt;

The Weapons System Engineering Division (W Division/W Program) provides system engineering and program management to ensure the safety, reliability, and security of the United States nuclear stockpile. W Division has a broad and overarching responsibility for systems engineering and program management of Los Alamos National Laboratorys nuclear stockpile assets in support of annual stockpile assessment, certification, and design and deployment of life extension projects. W Division is provides integral nuclear weapon engineering design expertise; systems engineering; experimental device design; fabrication and assembly; surveillance and production of nuclear stockpile components; engineering analysis and computational simulation; weapons response; and engineering testing for evaluation and maintenance of the enduring and future nuclear weapon stockpile.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Advanced Engineering Analysis Group (W-13) strives to provide our customers with timely and accurate answers to complex engineering problems by creatively combining cutting-edge numerical tools. Our customers include the nuclear weapons program, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense, among others. W-13 group expertise includes structural mechanics, structural dynamics, heat transfer, radiation transport, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, probabilistic methods, mechanics of materials, and numerical analysis.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This position will be filled at either the R&amp;D Engineer 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.&lt;br /&gt;

R&amp;D Engineer 2      ($76,500  $128,000)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This position will be responsible for the following:&lt;br /&gt;
	Evaluating analysis requests and determining requirements and objectives&lt;br /&gt;
	Participating in brainstorming sessions to determine best analysis approach&lt;br /&gt;
	Drafting formal analysis plans&lt;br /&gt;
	Generating meshes of complex solid geometry&lt;br /&gt;
	Identifying and assigning appropriate constitutive models&lt;br /&gt;
	Accurately characterizing loads, boundary conditions, and contacts&lt;br /&gt;
	Inspecting simulation results to debug numerical issues&lt;br /&gt;
	Working closely with test engineers to design validation experiments&lt;br /&gt;
	Analyzing large datasets from simulations and experiments to draw conclusions&lt;br /&gt;
	Critically evaluating modeling assumptions and theory and determining their estimated error and uncertainty on the solution&lt;br /&gt;
	Presenting and defending analysis results, uncertainties, and error estimates at formal model validation peer reviews&lt;br /&gt;
	Writing formal reports and delivering presentations that clearly and effectively communicate analysis conclusions and supporting information&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
R&amp;D Engineer 3      ($83,100  $142,500)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the R&amp;D Engineer 3 level requires experience with:&lt;br /&gt;
	Providing technical leadership to members of a team&lt;br /&gt;
	Leading brainstorming sessions to determine best analysis approach.&lt;br /&gt;
	Interfacing with customers.&lt;br /&gt;
	Defining strategic plans with both team members and customers to meet long term needs to maintain systems.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Requirements:&lt;br /&gt;
	Strong knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and practices.&lt;br /&gt;
	Experience in thermal, dynamic, and/or structural analysis.&lt;br /&gt;
	Demonstrated ability to contribute to the research, design, testing, analysis, verification, and validation of engineering and technology solutions in support of R&amp;D initiatives.&lt;br /&gt;
	Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.&lt;br /&gt;
	Demonstrated ability to provide timely analysis.&lt;br /&gt;
	This position will require the ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance which normally requires US citizenship.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Additional Job Requirements for R&amp;D Engineer 3:&lt;br /&gt;
	Experience with scripting to enable complex engineering analysis.&lt;br /&gt;
	Experience with large computing platforms&lt;br /&gt;
	Leadership experience&lt;br /&gt;
	Experience with defining project plans and executing those plans.&lt;br /&gt;
	Mentoring less experienced staff, post-docs, and or students&lt;br /&gt;
	Experience integrating and coordinating work across departments.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Desired Skills:&lt;br /&gt;
General knowledge of weapons is desired. Experience with scripting, specifically using Python, Matlab, or ABAQUS is also desired.  Knowledge and experience with ABAQUS, SIERRA, or other finite element analysis software is highly desired. The position will make use of verification and validation (V&amp;V) methods.  Experience with formal V&amp;V methods, statistical analysis (including design of experiments and sensitivity studies), and probabilistic analysis is also desired. Engineering experience gained through the DoD, aerospace industry, or the nuclear weapons complex is desired. Engineering analysis from structural hand calculations through systems level finite element multi-physics simulations, including signal processing.&lt;br /&gt;

Education:&lt;br /&gt;
A minimum of a BS in Science or Engineering from an accredited college is required.  Masters Degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering or related field.&lt;br /&gt;

The Lead Research and Development Engineer will provide technical leadership in the research and development activities required to investigate, invent or incorporate new sonar technologies into a Humminbird marine consumer electronics product.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Knowledge/Technical Skills Required&lt;br /&gt;
The candidate for this advanced level position will possess the following minimum knowledge and technical skill levels:&lt;br /&gt;
     - Advanced knowledge and experience in designing sonar systems and sonar system engineering designs &lt;br /&gt;
     - Advanced experience in multi-element array sonar transducer design and testing&lt;br /&gt;
     - Advanced experience in sonar transmitter and low noise receiver design and testing&lt;br /&gt;
     - Advanced embedded analog and digital signal processing fundamentals and techniques&lt;br /&gt;
     - Experience with software simulations environments like Matlab&lt;br /&gt;
     - Experience working with general purpose test equipment and troubleshooting procedures&lt;br /&gt;
     - Experience with proper printed circuit analog and digital design techniques &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Essential Duties and Responsibilities&lt;br /&gt;
The candidate for this position will be expected to carry out the following research and development tasks with no supervision of more senior electrical engineers or management:&lt;br /&gt;
     - Conceive and investigate ideas for low cost implementation of complex sonar products&lt;br /&gt;
     - Work with software team in sonar algorithm development, integration and test&lt;br /&gt;
     - Sonar system level specification, design, HW/SW integration and test&lt;br /&gt;
     - Piezoelectric element selection, characterization, cutting, and testing&lt;br /&gt;
     - Transducer construction, hydrodynamic analysis, housing materials, pressure relief materials, adhesives, transducer potting, testing, and design verification&lt;br /&gt;
     - Familiarity with transducer polar patterns, receive FFVS and transmit voltage response &lt;br /&gt;
     - Work with Marketing in understanding customer needs, and proposing new product conceptual designs, product brainstorming, and proof of concept demonstrations&lt;br /&gt;
     - Perform competitive product evaluations&lt;br /&gt;
     - Track the latest military, commercial, and competitive sonar technologies&lt;br /&gt;
     - Track latest sonar signal processing published papers, concepts, and IP&lt;br /&gt;
     - Initiate and oversee, corporate and university research experimentation projects&lt;br /&gt;
     - Patent research and writing&lt;br /&gt;
     - Participate in design reviews of product development electronics designs&lt;br /&gt;
     - Mentor lower level R&amp;D engineers&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Education and/or Experience&lt;br /&gt;
Minimum BSEE, BSET, BSME, BSCS, BSCE degree or related field of study with 10+ professional experience specifically related to an applicable Sonar Research and Development discipline&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Other Related Skills&lt;br /&gt;
The candidate must be a self-starting, motivated contributor in a team environment, capable of a high level of work output.  He/she must have excellent social and interpersonal skills, be able to effectively give direction and guidance, and work well within the cooperative culture of the Humminbird Engineering group.  This is a technical leadership position that requires the candidate to take ownership of projects and be able to guide and motivate development team engineers to produce quality designs on schedule&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
