Presently, The Astoria Power Project is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the electrical team at our Astoria, NY office.  &lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
Job Description&lt;br /&gt;
The individual will be responsible for providing electrical engineering design to support the Authority's fossil generating assets and associated transmission facilities.  The candidate will demonstrate competencies in the design and integration of all classes of electric utility systems and apparatuses.  A robust knowledge of a wide range of power system equipment and controls is required.  Proven success in managing the technical and administrative aspects of fast-paced and emergent projects is critical.  Typical duties will include ownership of the conceptual, analytical, and final design stages of modification projects, review of all design documentation, and the ability to administer on-site construction support, as required.  These tasks will often be accomplished through a lead coordinator function in which the candidate will assume a largely autonomous role, possessing the ability to perform independently without need of significant managerial or associate guidance.  In addition, the individual will act as the Project's design organization representative, serving as a project liaison between various Authority departments, electric utilities and consultant organizations.  Foundations of the candidate's character will be those of self-reliance, firm professional integrity and the rigorous ethical motivations commonly associated with the engineering profession.  This position requires up to 25% travel.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Required Skills&lt;br /&gt;
Candidate must have an understanding of power system theory and a general knowledge of hydroelectric and fossil power generating facilities, including both substation and transmission equipment, protective relaying, instruments and control systems.  Working knowledge of industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, NYS and NYC building codes, ANSI and IEEE standards is required.  The successful candidate will demonstrate strong oral, written and inter-personal communication skills, ability to exercise independent judgment and contribute effectively as both a team leader and individual contributor on multi-discipline projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Required Experience&lt;br /&gt;
To qualify, you must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering combined with substantial years of applicable experience.  A New York State professional engineering license is required for the senior level position.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

Presently, the Power Authority is seeking a dynamic individual for the job of a Sr. Code Compliance Engineer to work in our White Plains, NY office.  &lt;br /&gt;

Job Description:&lt;br /&gt;
Responsibilities include performing code review of engineering and design documents for new construction projects and providing comments regarding code compliance issues; preparing Construction Permits and Conditions to authorize construction of NYPA projects; supporting the safety personnel at the operating locations regarding building code and fire protection issues; performing code compliance inspections of permitted construction projects and preparing reports detailing inspection activities and corrective actions required before ensuring that corrective action is taken; maintaining files and documentation required to verify NYPA’s compliance with the construction permitting process defined in Part 1204, Title 19, of the Uniform Code; and providing technical expertise to NYPA staff regarding Uniform Code matters. Additional duties include maintaining certification as a NYS Code Enforcement Official through completion of required certification courses and annual “in-service” training courses; maintaining technical competency regarding the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other standards through self-study and designated training; and performing the duties of the NYPA Code Coordinator pursuant to Part 1204.5 (the Code Coordinator is responsible for providing fire safety inspections in response to complaints regarding conditions or activities allegedly failing to comply with provisions of the Uniform Code. In addition, the Code Coordinator shall be responsible for NYPA’s compliance with Parts 1174, 1195, and 1196 of Title 9 of the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations including the preparation of the reports required under those Parts). This position requires up to 20% travel to our operating facilities within NYS.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Required Skills:&lt;br /&gt;
Excellent leadership, problem solving, planning, verbal and written communication skills are essential.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
Required Experience:&lt;br /&gt;
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, a Professional Engineering License and Code Enforcement Certification, along with a minimum of 10 years experience applying and working with plan reviews and inspections related to the requirements of the NYS Building Code (New York State Executive Law, Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1204, Uniform Code) or ICC-based building code. Previous experience with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) fire protection and detection standards is necessary. Familiarity with the engineering design process, construction activities and processes, and code requirements for new products, materials and equipment and systems used in the building industry is helpful. Knowledge of the New York State Building Code as well as the NFPA and other referenced standards is required. Working knowledge of NYS regulations (i.e. Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1204) regarding the administration and enforcement of the Code Enforcement Program for NYS Agencies is a must.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

I. Purpose of Position&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The position provides engineering leadership for US Peroxide system design requirements. The position shall focus on design validation and standardization of USP equipment systems, ensuring that each system is thoroughly documented with design standards, system bill of materials and standard operating procedures. The position will be an integral part of company equipment development efforts with primary design responsibility, design standardization and fabrication quality control. The position works closely with the current engineering and project management team to ensure project equipment requirements are designed and fabricated to required standards. The position provides leadership and works closely with the USP fabrication shop for system fabrication and equipment quality control. The position requires the ability to lead and influence engineering initiatives for mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The position supports and manages commercial initiatives either through engineering support or project management. The position will work with other team members for monitor/controller integration. &lt;br /&gt;

II. Key Responsibilities&lt;br /&gt;
The position requires responsibilities as below.&lt;br /&gt;

· Chemical dose system design standardization and validation&lt;br /&gt;

REQUIRES:&lt;br /&gt;

- Advanced degree (MS or MBA) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering&lt;br /&gt;

- US Citizenship is required; a Secret Clearance is highly desired&lt;br /&gt;
- Experience designing Aerospace and Military electronics boxes for thermal and vibration environments&lt;br /&gt;
