The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is the nation’s largest state-owned power organization and one of New York State’s leading electricity suppliers. As part of its charter, NYPA supplies low-cost power for economic development purposes generated at facilities throughout the state, with 80 percent of its energy coming from clean, renewable hydropower. &lt;br /&gt;

Presently, the Power Authority is seeking a dynamic individual for the job of a Sr. Code Compliance Engineer to work in our White Plains, NY office.  &lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
Job Description:&lt;br /&gt;
Responsibilities include performing code review of engineering and design documents for new construction projects and providing comments regarding code compliance issues; preparing Construction Permits and Conditions to authorize construction of NYPA projects; supporting the safety personnel at the operating locations regarding building code and fire protection issues; performing code compliance inspections of permitted construction projects and preparing reports detailing inspection activities and corrective actions required before ensuring that corrective action is taken; maintaining files and documentation required to verify NYPA’s compliance with the construction permitting process defined in Part 1204, Title 19, of the Uniform Code; and providing technical expertise to NYPA staff regarding Uniform Code matters. Additional duties include maintaining certification as a NYS Code Enforcement Official through completion of required certification courses and annual “in-service” training courses; maintaining technical competency regarding the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other standards through self-study and designated training; and performing the duties of the NYPA Code Coordinator pursuant to Part 1204.5 (the Code Coordinator is responsible for providing fire safety inspections in response to complaints regarding conditions or activities allegedly failing to comply with provisions of the Uniform Code. In addition, the Code Coordinator shall be responsible for NYPA’s compliance with Parts 1174, 1195, and 1196 of Title 9 of the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules and Regulations including the preparation of the reports required under those Parts). This position requires up to 20% travel to our operating facilities within NYS.&lt;br /&gt;

Required Skills:&lt;br /&gt;
Excellent leadership, problem solving, planning, verbal and written communication skills are essential.&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
Required Experience:&lt;br /&gt;
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, a Professional Engineering License and Code Enforcement Certification, along with a minimum of 10 years experience applying and working with plan reviews and inspections related to the requirements of the NYS Building Code (New York State Executive Law, Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1204, Uniform Code) or ICC-based building code. Previous experience with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) fire protection and detection standards is necessary. Familiarity with the engineering design process, construction activities and processes, and code requirements for new products, materials and equipment and systems used in the building industry is helpful. Knowledge of the New York State Building Code as well as the NFPA and other referenced standards is required. Working knowledge of NYS regulations (i.e. Title 19, NYCRR, Part 1204) regarding the administration and enforcement of the Code Enforcement Program for NYS Agencies is a must.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
