Frequent (heavy) travel to Barrow, Alaska required for initial 3 to 6 months.  &lt;br /&gt;

SUMMARY:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Responsible for planning, designing, and directing engineering projects by performing the following duties:   professional service or creative work, the adequate performance of which requires the specialized knowledge of applied mathematics and sciences, dealing with the design of structures, machines, equipment, utilities systems, materials, processes, works, or projects; the direction of or the performance of engineering surveys, consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning; and professional observation of construction of public and private structures, works, or projects and engineering review of drawings and specifications by regulatory agencies.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
1.	Prepares and monitors project budgets for projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
2.	Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of assigned projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
3.	Serves as a project manager or project engineer and as a designated client contact.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
4.	Coordinates pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
5.	Prepares engineering agreements for his/her projects within the department.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
6.	Prepares design computations and quantity estimates. &lt;br /&gt;
7.	Develops probable construction cost estimates for his/her projects within the department. &lt;br /&gt;
8.	Attends client meetings - days or nights. &lt;br /&gt;
9.	Responsible for keeping upper management informed about work in process, ensures accurate contractor billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on his/her projects. &lt;br /&gt;
10.	Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests to plan and design project.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
11.	Directs and supervises other engineers’ activities as needed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
12.	Handles routine contract administration.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
13.	Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
14.	Instructs draftspersons/technicians to convert designs to working drawings.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
15.	Visits construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
16.	Serves as onsite project representative.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
17.	Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
18.	Responsible for project manager and/or project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
19.	Other duties may be assigned.&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
QUALIFICATIONS:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ability to lead by example, educate and direct others on technical subject matters, improve element programs and process effectiveness &lt;br /&gt;
Strong project management skills, including time and budget.&lt;br /&gt;
Knowledge of distribution system designs, both underground and over head &lt;br /&gt;
Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, on broad work assignments involving the compilation, preparation, and analysis of various statistical/analytical data, reports, statements, studies, or projects. &lt;br /&gt;
Generate and promote North Slope Borough Utilities ideas, methods, and procedures and provide continuous updates and improvement to planning processes and documents.&lt;br /&gt;
Ability to create and follow project schedules utilizing Microsoft Project. &lt;br /&gt;
Strong problem solving skills and ability to analyze complex engineering issues. &lt;br /&gt;
Proficient use of computers and application software programs such as Power Point, Word, Excel, Access and Project.&lt;br /&gt;
Demonstrated effective analytical and reasoning capabilities, refined verbal skills, and ability to effectively present information to peers and management.&lt;br /&gt;
Knowledge of EPA Clean Air Act for Power Generation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Relevant Background:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering (power option preferred) &lt;br /&gt;
Engineer: minimum of 3 years experience &lt;br /&gt;
Sr. Engineer: minimum of 6 years of professional level engineering &lt;br /&gt;
Valid Driver's License is required upon hire.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Preferable/Strongly Desired:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Experience in transmission and distribution system planning and design, protection schemes, training in power system analysis, as well as experience on substation designs, and/or electrical secondary networks &lt;br /&gt;
Alaska or other states Professional Engineer license preferred&lt;br /&gt;
•	Language Skills:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
?	Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
?	Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
?	Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
•	Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
?	Professional registration in a relevant jurisdiction as a licensed electrical engineer.  Registered professional engineer in the State of Alaska preferred.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
?	Valid drivers’ license required.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;
 &lt;br /&gt;
Develop and implement action plans to expand Calpine\'s acquisition and development prospects. &lt;br /&gt;
Develop and implement action plans to divest certain assets as determined by the Corporation. &lt;br /&gt;
dentify and develop business opportunities to acquire, expand or develop new power facilities and renewable resources. &lt;br /&gt;
Evaluate and analyze the viability of prospective projects. &lt;br /&gt;
Working with Commercial Operations, prepare proposals and customer presentations related to the development of project opportunities. &lt;br /&gt;
Analyze and evaluate transaction structuring options. &lt;br /&gt;
Effectively communicate the Calpine story to potential customers. &lt;br /&gt;
Coordinate project due diligence in cooperation with the operations group, legal counsel and other appropriate Calpine functions. &lt;br /&gt;
Lead negotiations of project acquisition agreements and work cooperatively with Origination, lead negotiations of power purchase agreements for development projects. &lt;br /&gt;
Develop and maintain relationships with industry contacts. &lt;br /&gt;
Lead teams in the preparation of proposals and completion of projects and acquisitions. &lt;br /&gt;
Coordinate the Business Development activities with the Project Finance, Legal and Operations groups to ensure thorough analysis and appropriate structuring of the projects. &lt;br /&gt;
Perform industry analysis, including competitive intelligence on market opportunities to select preferred targets for Calpine\'s Business Development efforts. &lt;br /&gt;
Prepare presentations to Senior Management in all functional areas as requested. &lt;br /&gt;
Other miscellaneous duties as required. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Qualifications:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ten years experience in power industries. &lt;br /&gt;
Business development experience in the power industry &lt;br /&gt;
Bachelor\'s degree, MBA preferred. &lt;br /&gt;
Solid understanding of the technical aspects of a power plant. &lt;br /&gt;
Solid understanding of contract documentation, and the acquisition process. &lt;br /&gt;
Project economics expertise. &lt;br /&gt;
Ability to take initiative and work independently. &lt;br /&gt;
Willingness to travel frequently. &lt;br /&gt;
Excellent communications (verbal &amp; written), negotiations, and human relations skills&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;
