RESPONSIBILITIES

� Manages industrial/manufacturing projects that apply to all BAC plants and licensees worldwide
� Working with Marketing and Engineering, assists in the design of new and/or redesigned products and the development of manufacturing plans to include manufacturing procedures, tooling and fixtures, initial labor estimates, capital requirements, transportation, etc.
� Manages the implementation of the above mentioned processes and systems in all BAC plants in North America as required
� Initiates profit improvement projects related to materials, labor, overhead and equipment
� Facilitates the communication of manufacturing information between plants in an effort to share knowledge/benefits company-wide
� Assists Plants with capital budgets, equipment selection and plant layout as assigned.
� Prepares Capital Expenditure Requests including financial justification for new and innovative equipment and processes as well as new plants

QUALIFICATIONS

� Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline; Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical required
� Five plus years previous engineering experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment required
� Experience in sheet metal fabrication & assembly and process improvement required
� Excellent computer skills - Windows applications and MS Office
� CAD/Drafting experience preferred but not required
� Competent employing continuous improvement tools including Lean in a manufacturing environment
� Excellent communication skills
� Demonstrated project management skill and sound technical judgment

This position will be responsible for directing the Project Controls support for project work conducted by the FLSmidth Mineral Processing Technology Center. Accordingly, the project controls group will support a range of projects with a total project value in excess of US$1 billion. These projects range in scope/scale from major EPS Concentrator and/or Hydromet facilities, to engineering & equipment supply for "islands" within a larger project, to equipment supply bundles, and multiple equipment supply and engineering only projects.

The successful candidate will provide project control management to include cost controls and analysis, estimating responsibilities, schedule development and monitoring, impact identification, accounting invoice coordination, office facilities planning and associated business management.

Responsibilities
1. Identify project control staffing requirements for all current projects and recruit personnel to meet these requirements in cooperation with the human resources department. Serve as a liaison with business unit functional management to coordinate workload and staffing plans.

2. Review contract drafts and related terms & conditions to ensure they meet project controls requirements and coordinate development of data in support of contract compliance.

3. Assist in setting up project control systems on new projects.

4. Evaluate projects at each stage of development to ensure cost and financial activities of the project team inclusive of ensuring client/contractual obligations have been met.

5. Direct all cost engineering functions, including cost forecasting, cost control, change management and cost analysis. Ensure good contract execution on projects with regards to change order management.

3.Develop and maintain department procedures and policies.
Develop and recommend to the Manager of Engineering, new department policies and procedures. When approved, implement the procedures, as approved, in a timely manner.

4. Recommend new product business opportunities.
In the time frame assigned, perform analysis and present options with a recommended course of action to the Manager of Engineering for approval.

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Program Management or equivalent degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience required. A strong knowledge of MS project, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word and the ability to manage multiple projects and people is required. Good interpersonal skills with an understanding of customer requirements and experience with managing production schedules required. Knowledge of aircraft completions, FAA certification procedures, production processes and engineering processes highly desired.

The position provides engineering and technical support, guidance, and leadership on assigned projects in accordance with the project scope, to the Project Manager and all supporting internal departments, customers, suppliers, and subcontracted design agents.

Duties

1. Develop concepts, strategies, plans and estimates to meet engineering requirements for prospective projects. Support bids and estimates with materials quantification or advice, technical analyses, advice, planning, schedules, as needed.
2. Prepare and maintain an overall engineering project plan, managing the requirements and resources to achieve schedules, budgets, complete and appropriate technical products, contract and regulatory compliance, document controls, and communications with customers, project teams, and suppliers.
3. Manage design verification and validation in accordance with established procedures. Gain regulatory approvals when required. Work with customers to approve proposed designs and solutions.
4. Ensure timely delivery of design, procurement specifications, necessary calculations and supporting documentation to support project requirements.
5. Provide technical guidance to internal engineering staff and/or Design Agents as required, and to all Production, Procurement, and Project Management Departments.
6. Conduct or participate in necessary meetings and write technical letters and reports.
7. Improve efficiency by actively searching for opportunities to improve data quality, data delivery/presentation, and yard production practices.
8. Respond to change productively and contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
9. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Operates within general parameters, but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing protocols. The role reports to the Director of Engineering. The incumbent and staff are held accountable for the profitable performance of the work performance. Failure to meet the expectations of the customer could result in significant loss of future business.

Education and Experience
B.S.E. degree in appropriate engineering major or equivalent technical training and job experience is required.

At least five (5) years of marine design engineering experience, including at least two (2) years direct interaction in a shipyard production environment. One (1) year in supervisor position is preferred. The person must be familiar with U.S. Navy and commercial vessel specifications, contracts, standards, and regulatory requirements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: P.E. or F.E. and working toward license desired.
