Job Title: Software Engineer
Company: Synexxus, Inc
Location: Arlington, VA

Synexxus is looking for an experienced software engineer to help in the design and development of advanced system integration systems suited for military applications. Our situational awareness systems are installed on integrated defense vehicles and maritime platforms. The systems run on Linux platform and the software framework is largely implemented in Java and C++.

The role reports to the Software Team Lead and is a mix of architecture, design, and developing high quality code along with making key technology decisions.

Essential Job Functions

Participate in and own delivery of high quality software
Research emerging technologies and assess their application to our products; prototype if necessary
Collaborate with program management on product features and requirements
Be a technical guru and Linux expert
Assist in unit and system level testing
Assist in system integration and development efforts
Participate in technical discussions as well as design reviews
Prioritize and manage multiple software projects and feature requests
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or three plus years experience in software
development required
3+ years of development experience in Java, C++ and Linux/Unix required
3+ years of commercial software development experience required
Strong Linux skills and experience with Linux shell scripting preferred
Familiarity with a multitude of open source tools and utilities for managing, monitoring and troubleshooting
Linux infrastructure and network a plus
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Exhibit a passion for troubleshooting and diagnosing issues
Experience optimizing environments for high performance
Experience with VMware based virtual infrastructure management
Demonstrate a broad range of skills in different technologies
Strong familiarity with digital video standards, interfaces and processing solutions is a huge plus
Strong analytical, diagnostic / debugging and problem- solving skills required
The incumbent must be motivated to collaborate in a high-energy environment and interact with external
stakeholders and members of the software team to provide software solutions
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance required
