Position Summary&lt;br /&gt;

The Performance Optimization Manager will lead engineers providing analytical support for Calpine’s 23 GW fleet of natural gas power facilities, covering all aspects of thermal performance. Responsibilities include the management and development of performance analytical tools that will be used to support plant business decisions for monitoring the heat rate and capability of generating assets, trending and improving plant performance, fleet economic dispatch and plant betterment.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
• Develop and maintain thermal performance monitoring tools for ongoing assessment of the natural gas fleet thermal performance.  &lt;br /&gt;
• Work closely with plant managers, turbine maintenance staff, commercial managers, and energy traders to understand plant operating characteristics to help optimize the profitability of the generating assets. &lt;br /&gt;
• Identify and analyze performance issues and convey the implications for plant profitability. &lt;br /&gt;
• Identify plant performance improvement opportunities and provide analysis for management decision-making. &lt;br /&gt;
• Generate reports of expected benefits including capacity, heat rate, availability, or production cost improvements. &lt;br /&gt;
• Remain up-to-date on emerging power plant performance technologies and optimization tools and techniques. &lt;br /&gt;
• Position reports to Vice President, Operation Analytics &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Skills and Relevant Experience &lt;br /&gt;
• Experience in managing engineers &lt;br /&gt;
• Experience with and working knowledge of gas-fired combined cycle and major equipment performance and operation particularly GE and Siemens gas turbines &lt;br /&gt;
• Knowledge of statistics &lt;br /&gt;
• Proficiency with thermal performance modeling tools such as Gatecycle as well as the Microsoft Office suite of computer programs. &lt;br /&gt;
• Familiarity with performance measurement mechanics (such as OSI Pi and other database platforms) is preferred &lt;br /&gt;
• Attractive backgrounds include work in plant engineering, development, engineering for OEMs, and work as an Independent Engineer &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Qualifications &lt;br /&gt;
• Minimum qualifications include bachelor’s degree in economics and/or engineering and 10 years or more of relevant experience &lt;br /&gt;
• Good problem solving and analytical ability. &lt;br /&gt;
• Must have strong computer skills especially in the use of engineering tools and spreadsheet and word processing programs. &lt;br /&gt;
• Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

• Develop and maintain protocols and procedures, including generation of performance correction curves for thermal performance testing. &lt;br /&gt;
• Provide plant and equipment performance assessments including identification of improvement opportunities. &lt;br /&gt;
• Provide equipment overhaul evaluations in support of corporate maintenance activities. &lt;br /&gt;
• Position works closely with plant managers, turbine maintenance staff, commercial managers, and energy traders to understand plant operating characteristics to help optimize the profitability of the generating assets. &lt;br /&gt;
• Position reports to Manager, Performance Testing &lt;br /&gt;

Skills and Relevant Experience &lt;br /&gt;
• Experience in conducting performance tests on gas turbine based power plants, particularly those with GE and Siemens as prime movers &lt;br /&gt;
• Understanding of ASME Performance Test Codes (esp 19, 22, 46) and performance corrections and calculations &lt;br /&gt;
• Proficiency with thermal performance modeling tools such as Gatecycle as well as the Microsoft Office suite of computer programs. &lt;br /&gt;
• Familiarity with performance measurement mechanics (such as OSI Pi and other database platforms) is preferred &lt;br /&gt;
• Attractive backgrounds include work in plant engineering, development, commissioning, engineering for OEMs, and work as an Independent Engineer &lt;br /&gt;

The Quality Control Specialist will be responsible to assist in the implementation of Calpine Corporation's quality related policies and procedures necessary to assure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations pertaining to power boilers, pressure vessels and power piping systems, where required, at each of our operating power plant facilities. &lt;br /&gt;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;

• Assist in implementing Calpine Corporation’s boiler and pressure vessel compliance program to assure proper stamping, permitting, inspection, notification and repair / alteration of power boilers, pressure vessels and power piping, where required. &lt;br /&gt;
• Assist in conducting training and supervision of company employees as necessary to assure proper implementation and compliance with of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Compliance program. &lt;br /&gt;
•Monitor 3rd party “R” Stamp quality control program in accordance with approved ASME/NBIC QC Manual and current Certificates of Authorization. &lt;br /&gt;
•Participate in inspections and or audits for the development of an Approved R-Stamp Contractors List, including thorough review of proposed contractor’s qualifications (i.e.; Certificates of Authorization, QC Manual, WPS’s, WPQR’s, NDE and PWHT procedures, Licensing, etc.). &lt;br /&gt;
•When directed, provide technical support to all company departments, groups, regions and operating plant personnel as needed to ensure continued fleet reliability and availability. &lt;br /&gt;
•Assist in conducting condition assessments of power boilers and high energy piping systems. &lt;br /&gt;

Qualifications:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
• Fifteen (15) years experience related to design, construction, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair / alteration of ASME power boilers, pressure vessels and piping systems.Ten (10) years must include quality assurance and or quality control management, five (5) years of which must include management and or implementation of NBIC ?R? Stamp repair / alteration program. &lt;br /&gt;
• Must have basic understanding of State Jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel rules and regulations, and have: &lt;br /&gt;
• Working knowledge and experience with ASME, NBIC, ASTM, ASNT, API, PFI, MSS, AISC, and AWS Codes and Standars. &lt;br /&gt;
• Experience in all aspects of power plant construction, fabrication, maintenance and repairs / alterations, with specific experience related to natural gas fired combined cycle power plants. &lt;br /&gt;
• Extensive working knowledge and experience with SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW welding processes, including qualification of welding procedure and welder performance qualification testing. &lt;br /&gt;
• Working knowledge and experience in non-destructive examinations (ie; RT, UT, MT and PT) of welds and base materials in accordance with approved company procedures and ASME/NBIC QC Manual. &lt;br /&gt;
• Good communications skills and ability to convey technical knowledge and criteria to a vast range of professionals and organizations. &lt;br /&gt;

Identify and assist in the development of processes or procedures to most effectively support the management of projected capital costs. &lt;br /&gt;
• Coordinate with Engineers, Managers and Project Field Staff as required in conceptual estimating and in the executing of the project budgets and review of subcontractor bid packages. &lt;br /&gt;
• Perform drawing take-offs in support of projects and in development of estimates. &lt;br /&gt;

Qualifications:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
• A recognized degree in a business or, technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or commensurate work experience performing related duties. &lt;br /&gt;
• Five years work experience in support of capital projects. &lt;br /&gt;
• Demonstrated strong project and process organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to manage cost estimating tasks for multiple and diverse projects against firm deadlines. &lt;br /&gt;
• Strong computer skills including expertise in MS Excel spreadsheet and related database management, competency in MS Word, and competency in MS PowerPoint. &lt;br /&gt;
