The Quality Industrial Engineer is responsible to develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction, ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable quality standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. Duties may require specialization in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities required for this position:
�Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
�Knowledge of Solid Works or other CAD/CAM software.
�Ability to read and understand component and sub-assembly drawings, interpretations of geometric dimensioning and tolerance notations.
�Proficient in performing all test methods defined by quality engineering test plans in support of Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Design Validation Testing (DVT) and Process Validation Testing (PVT) activities.
�Product and component knowledge relative to the needs of all defined test protocols.
�Ability to use and properly handle power tools, hand tools and lab equipment.
�Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts and associate with information or data to draw conclusions.
�Principles, theories and practices of engineering.
�Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.
�Coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organizations.
�Ability to write statistical analysis reports, business correspondence and procedures.
�Must be able to work with little to no supervision

Requirements:
Bachelor�s degree in technical/engineering field of study from an accredited university. Six years related work experience in quality field. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or must obtain certification within 12 months from date of hire. ISO 9001 Certified Internal Auditor Certification or must obtain certification within 18 months of hire. Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or must obtain certification within 18 months of hire.

� Facilitate initiative to improve carrier performance such as conducting carrier scorecard performance meetings, carrier corrective actions and carrier training.

� Manage carrier claims (line disruptions, part shortages, and damaged parts) process from submission to the carrier through the point of claim collection.

� New carrier evaluation, onboarding, and training.

� Will require involvement in projects that will require ability to identify process improvements, implement process changes and creation of training documentation.

� Individual should possess the following characteristics:

6. Generate and maintain a master certification schedule for each project.

7. Schedule and lead all Certification Board Meetings.

9. Work closely with the Quality to obtain successful completion of FAA Certification and audits.

10. Manage the conformity process with includes the determination of items that require conformity, writing and issuing the request for conformity, tracking the conformity progress for all projects.

11. Advise company personnel of procedures and requirements of FAA by conferring with other members of the aviation industry and maintaining familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) and foreign certification requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

� 4-year college degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering.
� In-depth knowledge of FAA Parts 21, 23, 27 & 29 Airworthiness Standards.
� 3+ years experience with FAA certification procedures and the STC process.
� Desire a current DER delegation or someone with potential to become a DER with the company's assistance.
� Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of other applications such as Primavera and DOORS is also helpful.
� Ability to manage multiple projects and people, good interpersonal skills and understanding of customer requirements.

Background in the physical sciences, manufacturing techniques, engineering, economics, and engineering graphics. Knowledge of Aviation and associated practices. Extensive knowledge of PC systems. Excellent verbal and written skills. CAD (solid modeling) experience with CATIA v5.

During interview; must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CATIA v5 skills including detail design of sheet metal/machined/composite parts, generative shape design/modeling (surface and wire frame), geometric dimensioning & tolerancing.

1. Technical Support Engineering:
Provide technical support for electrical and avionics engineering data to address customer requests or questions. Write Field Technical Reports (FTR) and Field Service Reports (FSR).

2. Service Difficulty Reports (SDR):
Initiate, coordinate, and track resolution of SDRs in the database. Coordinate and regularly report activity and resolution performance matrices to management.

3. Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and/or SA1230 Form Reviews:
Be the 'Process Expert' for ECRs. Coordinate and track resolution with design and structures engineers to determine disposition of the requests. Maintain ECR database and create performance matrices to track activity and objectives.

4. Avionics and Electrical design and drawing support when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Aerospace Engineering Degree
� BA/BS degree w/4-7+ years experience
� MA/MS degree w/2-5+ years experience
� PhD degree w/0-2+ years experience

Knowledge of the Code of Federal Aviation Regulations CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, and 29.

Strong communication skills and ability to professionally represent Sikorsky Global Helicopters in communication with customers.

Ability to perform all job functions effectively both independently and within a workgroup.

Knowledge of office software, including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint and AutoCad.

Position Description

The Phantom Works organization is seeking an avionics hardware engineer to support the Boeing Adaptive Architecture program.
