Job Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for home page and University-wide web content for the purpose of strategically centralizing content and design in one place; acts as a steward and curator for all web content and the website user experience.
Classification Summary: Under general direction, works to plan, develop, and deploy E-commerce websites including designing web architecture, code writing, and ensuring site functionality in a twenty-four hour, seven days a week environment. May lead large development projects requiring in-depth knowledge of complex web-based programming languages. Responsible for maintaining technical documentation.
Classification Standard Duties: Researches and compiles information concerning new web site design software. Designs user interfaces including menus and navigational tools to maximize web site usability. Designs original graphics and multi-media for web sites. Researches and implements graphical and multi-media web software and applications including text, audio, graphics, animation, video and interactive elements. Consults with and advises content providers regarding accessibility, usability and aesthetic appeal of web sites. Assists content providers in designing web pages for use by individuals with a range of visual, auditory, motor/mobility and cognitive abilities.
Participates as a team member in web site development/design projects. Researches web site development software. Develops and maintains user interfaces including menus and navigational tools to maximize web site usability and databases associated with web sites.
Designs databases associated with web sites. Assists content providers in developing and maintaining web sites for use by individuals with a range of visual, auditory, motor/mobility and cognitive abilities. Implements and maintains web site architecture, programs and scripts.
Participates as a team member in web site development/design projects. May participate in web server hardware/software administration.
Knowledge: Knowledge of current and emerging multi-media and/or web site development software.
Knowledge of web site architecture. Knowledge of web standards and protocols including usability and accessibility standards.
Skills: Skill in web site development and/or design including database development and interface and navigation tool design. Skill in researching and using new web site development/design software. Skill in designing or developing usable and accessible web sites and/or original graphics. Skill in providing consultation regarding web site design/development projects.
Abilities: Ability to work with diverse team members/users. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Required Experience: Five (5) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.
