Location: Phoenix, NY
Plans, directs, and implements fabrication product design and quality program for EJ Fabrication sourcing operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Evaluates customers new product requests for all new custom products; establishes the standards and prepares the drawings (Solidworks) and furnishes quotes for jobs.
Takes direction and guidance from Engineer Manager.
Works with customers and sales in providing fabrication product design and technical support, i.e. product design and fabrication consultation and service.
Works with manufacturing on the effective implementation of new products within the shop, i.e. shop processes, routings, bill of materials, standards, NCR set-up, new tooling and fixturing.
Conducts product feasibility studies and evaluations, assists sales and manufacturing in determining the costs and profitability of taking on new sales or products.
Develops and helps to implement new product design concepts.
Assists Hatch Door product line by providing engineering support and communication with Sales and Fabrication.
Establishes and manages effective product quality inspection, audit and review processes from sales/quote entry through manufacturing.
Trains and coaches all other employees on effective use of continuous improvement and quality systems tools and methods.
Assists in customer complaint investigations, reporting and follow-ups. Leads the effort to improve product quality as seen by the customer.
Leads specific quality improvement initiatives and projects.
Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university or degree in Engineering Technology; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some knowledge of structure, drafting and Microsoft Office is required. Normally, this experience is attained through obtaining a bachelor's degree in engineering although an Associate degree (A.A) or equivalent from a college or technical school with both structure and drafting is acceptable. Solidworks proficiency is required and five years of experience in a fabrication environment is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient and experienced in drafting design and shop drawings using Solidworks.
Ability to conceptualize "verbal" projects and directives given by prospective and current customers.
Be proficient in Spreadsheet creation, design and use along with Excel and Word programs.
