As part of the Server and Infrastructure Systems Group at Dell EMC, The Competitive Analysis Team: Drives a cross functional process to evaluate the market and selects competitive systems for insights into the differences between Dell EMC products and competitors.
This role will plan and manage the investigation of Dell EMC server product competitiveness. At its core, this position will be responsible for developing and tracking the goals of the Competitive Analysis team, as well as leading the team in day-to-day operations. This is inherently a Program Management role that requires working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across many functional areas to coordinate schedules and ensure seamless execution. The output of these investigations will be provided to decision makers in Product Management, Engineering, and Procurement organizations, as well as associated top-line executives to enable the optimization of Dell EMC products. This role encompasses, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
In this Competitive Analysis position, you will
Work with executive leadership to define the scope, direction, and goals of the Competitive Analysis team
Work with engineering and product management teams to define an annual budget and roadmap of which products need to be investigated with relative priority
Adjust budget and roadmap during year to adapt to new competitive threats in the market
Collaborate with stakeholders to plan the scope, competitors, and goals of competitive investigations
Coordinate with SMEs across many functional areas (engineering, product management, procurement, quality, ID/Usability, etc) to schedule competitive investigations
Work with outside vendors to purchase and receive competitor products
Lead cross-functional ideation workshops and document results
Work with SMEs to develop insights and tradeoffs from competitive investigation findings, and then create a report based on those findings
Present findings of competitive investigations to Product Management, Engineering, and various stakeholders including executive leadership
Manage the competitive analysis data repository, currently managed using the Atlassian Confluence software
Manage the day-to-day tasks, goals, and output of other team members including the designated lab technician
Answer requests for information and system access from various functional areas
Gather feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve the Competitive Analysis team’s output
Use your experience planning and managing projects to a schedule to predictably hit milestones
BS in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering and minimum 8-10 years’ relevant experience
Ability to make risk calls, priority decisions, and work through others
Strong organization and communication skills in multi-discipline environment
Excellent presentation skills with proven track record of delivering information to top-line executives and managing follow-ups
Experience in project management and demonstrated history of team leadership
Experience in crafting the “vision” of a team and defining the goals required to achieve that “vision”
Demonstrated history of leadership
Experience with Enterprise Server design, including planar and system implementation
Experience with RAS requirements, design, and solutions
Experience in Marketing and Procurement disciplines, or a history of coordinating and managing expectations with these disciplines
