Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a Coastal or Civil engineer who specializes in coastal projects to support planning and design for Urban Waterfront and Coastal Structures projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments, and cruise ship facilities; wetland restoration, dredging, shore protection structures, and floodwalls. The ideal candidate has experience working with a team of engineers performing modeling.
Duties and responsibilities:
Perform preliminary engineering design tasks for coastal and waterfront projects
Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, in support of final bid packages
Prepare sea level rise/climate change vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning
Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and project managers
Draft design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, quantity calculations, and signing and pavement markings plans
Participate in design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
Participate in identifying schedule and cost variances, and developing and implementing recommendations for corrective action
Prepares written and graphic reports and makes presentations
Prepares various draft documents under direction, including reports, memoranda, and poster
Requires occasional travel to local clients

2-5 years of engineering experience possessing a broad knowledge of coastal and waterfront infrastructure projects, permitting, and a wide range of civil engineering project production.
Master's degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering (or other closely related discipline) required
Strong technical report writing skills required
Familiarity with standard coastal numerical models for waves, hydrodynamics and sediment transport processes
Experience with Matlab, Delft3D, SWAN, DHI Mike modeling suite, RMA, SOBEK, and WAQUA preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
