POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Global Continuous Improvement organization, the Ops Engineering - Manufacturing Engineer helps identify, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and technology standards to deliver operational improvements globally. This position will work across all of the businesses to establish and drive process standardization and improvement. The Manufacturing Engineer will support multiple global projects/resources in their development, implementation and sustainment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Drive implementation of the manufacturing process strategy and process technology roadmaps 2 Utilizes commercial simulation software to model the various vale streams that exist in major Gates plants to develop mathematical models that are utilized in process optimization 3 Works with vendors to implement and develop customized front end simulation software to utilize the process models in addressing key operations and financial metrics 4 Supports complex projects requiring the integration of worldwide technology and resources to meet operational objectives 5 Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and continuous improvement opportunities 6 Supports operations and commercial process and lean manufacturing initiatives 7 25%-50% travel will be required (depending on location) Strong working relationships with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, IT and Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams is required. Additional duties include: -Provide support to Regional and Plant Operations / Engineering to maintain current capability, implement additional capabilities, answer questions, address concerns and remove cultural/technical barriers -Provides technical/procedural expertise and guidance to others in accomplishing projects as directed -Work with outside vendors to acquire needed supplies, parts, and design operation standards for process improvement implementation and standardization
BS Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 0-3 years (2 years of experience can be substituted for a technical MS Degree) in engineering in a technical role.
Internship or new hire experience in simulation development, process design, process improvement, Statistical Process Control (SPC)/Quality Control and/or lean six sigma applications.
Experience in process design and manufacturing of rubber belts, hydraulic hose or metals manufacturing systems and related equipment for new and existing processes
Experience in equipment specification, design, and integration for new and existing processes.
Mathematical modeling, programming, and simulation development experience in either a commercially available or customized software package
Experience with process flow analysis and general manufacturing principles
Willingness to develop project management skills, including communication, execution and follow-up assessment
Ability to work focus on major core projects and adhering to instructions (preventing scope creep)
Results oriented; seeks effective, creative solutions to process problems
Working proficiency with lean six sigma analysis and analytical problem solving
Excellent oral and written presentation skills in front of all levels of the organization
Knowledgeable in the use of engineering software (any simulation package (preferably FlexSim, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Minitab, Office Suite, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, etc.)
Strong technical English proficiency
Robotic configuration and programming experience is a plus
Multi-lingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, or Hindi)
