WSP is currently seeking a Designer (EIT) to join our Bridges department, located at our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Manager, Bridges, this exciting opportunity will provide you with the opportunity to participate in the delivery of transportation structure projects, including the design of highway, railway, and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, transit stations, and drainage structures.
Responsibilities will include design of highway, railway, and pedestrian bridges and design guidance to other team members as well as a wide range of project requirements including but not limited to:
Preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other civil structures;
Structural inspection and construction field review;
Preparation and review of drawings;
Contract specifications / documentation;
Contract administration service;
Liaison with all discipline members, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies; and
Other duties as assigned.
Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university;
Post-graduate degree would be an asset;
Should be eligible for professional licensing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba;
Experience using AASHTO would be an asset;
Superior technical understanding, design abilities and current on bridge technologies;
Working knowledge of software used for structural analysis in design such as CSiBridge, Midas, SAP, SFrame, etc;
Specific areas of expertise required are in the planning, preliminary and detailed design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, retaining walls and culverts. A thorough knowledge of current design codes (CAN/CSA-S6-14 in particular) and standards is essential;
Experience with design of rehabilitation of existing structures;
Experience with bridge condition surveys and construction phase structural liaison; and
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
