Position Title : Plant Controller
Reports To : CFO
Classification : Exempt
Status : Full-time
Location : Midland, MI
The Plant Controller is the managerial partner to the CEO, CFO and the Leadership Team and oversees all operative controlling and financial areas of the plant. This entails month end closing, financial planning and forecasting, inventory and costing as well as KPI monitoring. Contributing to the success of the company by implementing standardized process, assuring governance and driving profitability improvements completes the role.
Reporting and Analysis
Monitors the monthly closing process and prepares monthly financial statements including explanation of performance.
Provides in-depth analysis, explains variances and develops action plans.
Creates reports to measure specific performance KPIs and drives improvement activities.
Financial Planning and Forecasting
Leads the annual operative planning and forecasting process.
Supports the creation of the company long-term business plan and strategy process.
Inventory and Costing
Brings strong standard cost knowledge including cost rolls, calculation of labor and machine rates.
Ensure that standard costs are set to reflect the correct costs and analyses and presents changes.
Prepares annual inventory valuation and supports cycle count process.
Supports capital strategy with preparation of investment analysis, Payback and IRR calculation and presentation to Capital Approval Board.
Controls capital spending with project managers and forecasts cash flow.
Understands integrated ERP systems (preferably SAP) and drives standardization and process improvements.
Able to leads the implementation of system upgrades and supports roll-out of group reporting systems.
Leads and motivates a small team and creates an environment where talent is developed through effective performance management.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; Master's degree is preferred.
10+ years related experience including 3+ year in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment required.
Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Advanced SAP and SAP BI experience.
Project management skills.
