ABOUT THE POSITION:
Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the Entry-Level Analytical Measurement Engineer or Scientist position include:
Hands-on laboratory usage and field deployment of various types of optical monitoring equipment;
Custom design and assembly of optically based trace gas/water detection systems, including method development, maintenance and troubleshooting;
Data processing, data quality assurance and control, data review and interpretation from the operation of optical instrumentation including FTIR, Raman, LIBS, extractive UV, UV-DOAS, Tunable Diode Laser and various LED absorption assemblies;
Assist in the designing and writing of technical client proposals;
Fieldwork such as instrument set-up, sample or materials analysis, and data acquisition;
Data analysis, including interpretation of spectral data and preparing, tables, and figures; and
Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. Fieldwork: Up to 30%
Overnight travel: Up to 30%

BS degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, chemistry, or physics. (required)
Advanced degree with an experimental thesis in electrical or mechanical, chemistry, or physics. (preferred)
Academic laboratory experience in design/development of optical measurement instrumentation, calibration methods, and quality assurance/quality control procedures. (required)
Experience in quantitative analyses of trace level contaminants in water and/or air. (preferred)
Extensive training in optical spectroscopies (especially in the infrared and ultraviolet). (preferred)
Experience in the analysis and interpretation of spectral data. (required)
Practical knowledge of laser safety and laboratory chemical hygiene. (preferred)
Coding for instrument control and data acquisition. (preferred)
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. (required)
