The Role: Tesla Technical Training Instructor – PLC and Networks
This position requires someone who is flexible, highly organized, and hard working. Individuals should have a passion for and understanding of personal development through the training process. Must have outstanding communication, presentation and organizational skills while demonstrating a positive, motivational, and professional appearance. The Tesla Technical Training Instructor – Instructor should have experience, expertise, and the ability to effectively instruct the application of Programmable Logic Controllers in an Industrial setting. Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting.
Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop basic and advanced technical content on a wide variety of material. Examples include; Siemens S7 and TIA Portal PLC networks, Allen Bradley/Rockwell RSLogix5000 PLC networks, HMI mimics, Profinet, Device net, Ethernet systems, Variable frequency drive systems and Safety device programming.
Prepare instructional material from the curriculum that is to be covered in class and review weekly lessons, quizzes, tests and labs and come prepared to teach on time. Strives to motivate students and facilitate learning by creating a positive environment.
Deliver equipment specific training to Maintenance Technicians and Engineers on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and topics as described above.
Knowledge of: methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of all auto manufacturing Robotics equipment and processes. Siemens, Allen Bradley Rockwell, Beckhoff PLC’s are used at Tesla.
Deliver Technical Training courses in classroom and field settings using a variety of presentation formats including Instructor Led, Facilitative group learning, active hands-on learning and functional assessments.
Provide evaluation of courses with written and hands-on assessments.
Provide comprehensive tracking of each Student’s completed and required training in Tesla specific Learning Management software system.
Extensive experience with robotics systems to include basic and advanced programming, remastering, teaching and mechanical teardown and reassembly.
Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 PLC experience. Siemens S7 and TIA Portal and /or Beckhoff is a plus.
Extensive presentation skills with diverse advanced technical content as described above.
Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within the Training, Maintenance and Engineering organizations.
Strong analytical problem solving skills and hands-on experience with hardware, tools, instruments, and methods applicable to manufacturing robotics processes.
Uses instructional media such as audio-visual (video, Power Point, You Tube. ect.) and hands on equipment
Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Experience with environmental and safety requirements including the NFPA 70E.
Strong ability to work in cross functional groups from diverse technical and experience backgrounds.
Skilled with common workplace and database software (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
Occasional travel (approximately 10% annually) to develop emerging content on new equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Familiarity with Objective based training theory, ADDIE process and functional assessment settings a plus.
Familiarity or expertise with Learning Management Systems a plus.
Preform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on maintenance or engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with expertise in a wide variety of technical subjects specializing in networks, PLC’s and controls programming. This subject matter expert will have a passion for teaching others and achieving excellence through instruction and mentoring programs.
