As our Footwear Developer II, you'll provide project and process management within the Category Development team at an intermediate level. You'll be responsible for converting a project brief and a 2D design rendering into a 3D sample that meets the needs of the team and the consumer and that can be successfully and profitably commercialized and produced. You'll actively participate in meetings with Product Creation during all phases of the development process, influencing and executing the decision making process that leads to on-time product confirmation and sample delivery. You'll plan and execute development according to critical dates and performance/profitability goals and address challenges and plans accordingly to deliver validated and tested product. You'll ensure manufacturability of product concepts and utilize footwear knowledge and tools to effectively and appropriately achieve project objectives.
You'll use the most appropriate communication tools to successfully lead the product creation process from initial concept, commercialization and production. You'll lead sampling and prototyping across geographies. You'll apply fundamental understanding of category best practices to identify product and testing requirements and assure product performance through physical and field-testing (fit). This opportunity also involves applying fundamental understanding of product and category objectives, quality goals and athlete/consumer requirements. You will have the responsibility of recommending and specifying to Product Creation teams the material, component and construction options to meet key features and product performance goals. In addition, you'll engage appropriately in all phases of the product process to ensure projects are completed on time, can be commercialized, manufactured, while and meeting design intent performance, costing and sustainability goals.
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field, OR 2 additional years' relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years' experience in product creation (e.g., development, product engineering, pricing, production, marketing, product creation training and development and/or R&D services)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Clear understanding and solid working knowledge of the tools that support the product creation process in the areas of upper patterns, bottom tooling and manufacturing
- Demonstrated development and project management skills
