One of the flagship services we enable is the 3-2-1 service - a national toll-free public service information line available in many countries via voice calls, USSD, SMS messages, and soon via social networks. By calling 3-2-1, anyone with access to a mobile phone is able to access information on topics such as health, agriculture, financial literacy, news, weather, and more. Offered in partnership with content providers and a national telecom operator, 3-2-1 is serving millions of people monthly across Africa and Asia with quality life-improving information to support their families.
Viamo's global SaaS platform for mobile engagement enables thousands of organizations to share information and gather feedback from the citizens they serve in the most challenging environments. Usage of the platform grew by over 10X in the past year, while we've added new countries, new channels, and new features.
Currently, we are building new capabilities for the platform – while maintaining reliability, usability, and scalability. Working as one of the Frontend Chapter Leads and with other engineers and designers, you will be a key part of creating user experiences for our next-generation platform, and figuring out how to build major new feature areas.
Lead the implementation of the user experience, navigation, and look-and-feel of Viamo's next-generation platform
Evaluate the experience of existing features and build refinements for improved usability and consistency
Work closely with designers to understand users and user needs, and develop understandable intuitive mental models
Improve the architecture of Viamo's "Trees" browser-based drag-and-drop mobile engagement designer through a process of refactoring based upon modern JS frameworks, latest industry standards and decoupling into reusable components
Support and coach fellow frontend developers with less experience and expertise
Help define, map out and architect solutions for upcoming features, enhancements and projects
Make educated recommendations on choices of frontend libraries and frameworks
Help develop a style guide and ensure all user interfaces follow the new style conventions and multilingual localization
Contribute to team processes and learning so that the engineering team meets its goal every Sprint of becoming a smarter, more productive, healthier team
Take a lead/expert role in areas of our platform additionally preparing documentation that can be used for teaching about the operation and maintenance needs of Viamo software
Take occasional technical support shifts
Ability to craft creative and sustainable architecture helping our teams to move faster over time
Ability to collaborate with others; eg. design and frontend team members to solve problems creatively
Ability to achieve consistency with a style guide, but also having an intuitive sense of beautiful and aesthetic interfaces
Strong ability to empathize with user needs and think like a user
Basic fluency in PHP and Laravel 5 (Blade Templates)
Basic fluency in Kotlin
