This position provides engineering project leadership and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems. Individual is responsible for a specific discipline such as civil/structural, electrical, instrument, mechanical, process, project, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of all Engineering Disciplines include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of a client’s changing needs, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.
Provides conceptual and detailed engineering of process equipment and piping systems.
Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Designs systems such as piping, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
Work includes P&ID development, equipment configuration and specification, piping specifications and sizing, piping stress analysis, material requisition preparation and development of engineering construction drawings.
Provides support to fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and client specifications.
Designs systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer registration with the State of Alaska.
15+ years experience in the oil and gas industry on the North Slope – Alaska preferred.
Able to work independently as well as with project team. Able to communicate effectively and professionally with project team and client.
Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, piping, or HVAC system work. Prior experience might have included work with pipe stress analysis software, familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications, and with ASHRAE standards.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and client.
Comprehend and apply principles of calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs and theorems. Ability to apply mathematical operations to work projects.
Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in the most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Possess a proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Prefer Pipe stress analysis using Bentley Auto Pipe.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, although the individual may be required to direct the work of others including drafters, designers and other engineers.
