Job Description:
L3Harris is looking for the right individual to fill our field engineering positions which supports one of the most critical FAA programs within the L3Harris portfolio. This next generation program is an essential component of the FAA’s modernization efforts and will help define the future of aircraft surveillance.

The successful candidate will provide customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Interprets customers' needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.

The candidate may manage projects or processes with general supervision, communicate with contacts inside and outside of their own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures, recommend enhancements to systems and processes, and work to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

Detailed responsibilities are as follows:
Support integration of hardware and software components within a lab and operational environment.
Perform radio station cabinet assembly, sub-component assembly and manufacture, and electronic wiring harness assembly and manufacturing.
Test and certify equipment and sub-assemblies for installation into cabinets.
Perform inventory and inspection of sub-assemblies and harnesses for use in radio station cabinets.
Help diagnose root cause and develop work arounds and mitigations for correcting service anomalies.
Collect and analyze data to evaluate performance and anomalies.
Implement changes to the operational system including deployment of software applications, making adaptation (software configuration) changes, upgrading hardware such as radio equipment and routers servers.
Perform installation of hard drives, memory, mother boards, and peripheral boards in radio station computers, and re-programs/reconfigures radios for various functions.
Requires some electronics knowledge, and acquaintance with, and understanding of, general and detailed aspects of radio and electronics troubleshooting and their practical applications to problems and situations encountered when assembling radio cabinets.
Remote Position. Home office is in Herndon, VA.
Position requires 50% travel.

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Experience with troubleshooting complex network related issues, performing root cause analysis.
4-6 years’ experience providing engineering support to an operations team.
