The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a temporary Systems Administrator for the (GIS/ITS) program in Cheyenne. This position will perform duties related to configuration of onboard units for the Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot and computer systems hardware and software configuration and testing.
Cheyenne is a steadily growing community along the Front Range but still true to the history of the Old West. The city offers nearby access to mountain biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Cheyenne also is home to the "Daddy of 'em All" – Cheyenne Frontier Days – held every last week of July. Wyoming is one of only seven states with no state income tax.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
Responsible for the management and configuration, upgrade and maintenance of systems, including connected vehicle road-side and on-board units, databases and data storage backups, and infrastructures
Implements security and configures devices to receive security certificates from the Security Credentialing Management System
Evaluates systems and makes recommendations based on findings
Configures, installs, maintains, designs, develops, tests, debugs, documents and implements systems and infrastructures applications
Provides technical assistance and training to application users
Troubleshoots, solves and/or refers systems and infrastructures problems
Assist in establishing and maintaining standards and procedures
Prepares and writes configuration documents and maintains systematic list of configured devices
Technical testing and documentation of assigned tasks according to approved design specifications
Evaluating development & maintenance software as required
Analyze, design, develop, test, and implement efficient solutions involving diverse platforms, software, technologies and tools
Coordinates with individuals such as programmers to ensure software and system compatibility with in-house applications
Coordinates with other CV pilot team members to ensure required security measures are in place
Preference will be given to those with Knowledge of the Linux operating
Preference will be given to those with Knowledge of best practices related to computer security
Preference will be given to those with Knowledge of remote and thin-client application configuration
Preference will be given to those with Knowledge of server back-up systems
Preference will be given to those with :Knowledge of analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and management of connected vehicle related hardware and software.
Knowledge of analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and management of computer-related hardware and software.
Knowledge of state offered performance appraisal training and supervisor training.
Knowledge of computer hardware & software and database administration.
Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work will involve mostly office duties but some travel may be required.
The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
This is a temporary, full-time position with no expectation of continued employment and may be dismissed at any time without cause or reason.
A background information check, including taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.
