Lead a group of process engineers in performing pressure relief analysis using American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and client specific guidelines to determine and address adequacies and deficiencies of all relief devices.
Perform, and train engineers in, relief system analysis for refineries and chemical units using API 520/521 standards,including scenario identification, relief rate quantification and sizing for various refinery units like hydrotreater, hydrocracker, LNG and chemical plants.
Perform and check column simulations using software such as HYSYS, PRO II, ASPEN Plus and PROMAX in addition to calculating relief loads for upset scenarios.
Perform flare study including analysis and sizing of the flare header, design rating of flare knock-out drum/seal drum and radiation analysis using Visual Flow and Flarenet software.
Perform and review flare radiation analysis using Flare sim software, and Flare Dispersion analysis using PHAST simulation software. Perform emergency depressuring analysis.
Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) such as HAZOP, HAZID and LOPA.
Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Perform and check process design calculations, simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing and specifications, hydraulic calculations for line sizing, compressor circuit and preparing instrument datasheets.
Design and rate distillation columns using tools such as KG-Tower.
Design and rate equipment including heat exchangers using HTRI software tool.
Provide multi discipline support such as Mechanical, Control Systems and Piping. Participate in 3-D model reviews during plant design phase.
Manage schedule and budgets to successfully meet dates and quality within assigned budget.
Ensure that the process deliverables meet project requirements and are within schedule.
Perform relief valve calculations using PPM or similar software.
Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and 12 years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible related chemical/process engineering experience, including 7 years of experience with safety relief reviews, including contingency analysis for distillation columns and relief rate calculations for chemical and refinery units.
Master’s in Chemical Engineering and 10 years of related chemical/process engineering experience, including 7 years of experience with safety relief reviews, including contingency analysis for distillation columns and relief rate calculations for chemical and refinery units.
