The Mechanical (Continuation) Engineering team is responsible for the continuous improvement of existing products, creating and maintaining engineering CAD models, drawings and specifications, executing and managing the Engineering Change Order process, evaluating and addressing product performance issues, and providing diverse engineering support to both internal and external customers.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Primary design engineering representative for projects identified by the Quality and Operations Planning Group (QOPG)
Responsible for collaborating on the scoping and planning of QOPG projects
Execute technical design investigation/experimentation/testing supporting QOPG projects and implementing related changes and/or corrective actions
Provide sustaining engineering support services for assigned existing/released product lines
Initiate and execute engineering change orders, including CAD model/drawing creation and modification
Manage product structures/BOMs in ERP system
Maintain engineering standards and specifications; create and update specifications as required
Represent CPC Engineering in quality surveillance audits as required
Author new procedures and work instructions to support Continuous Improvement culture
Provide technical support to subcontractors, customers, as well as a wide array of internal customers including: Sales, QA, Marketing, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Purchasing, and Design/R&D Engineering
Required Job Qualifications
Proficiency in Creo/Windchill 3D CAD
Hands-on mechanical instinct/aptitude with strong “eyes-closed” visualization skills
Innate technical curiosity
Ability to apply sound engineering logic to solve complex problems, to properly assess risk, and make decisions accordingly
Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams
Strong but respectful verbal communication style
Experience with technical writing
Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, chemistry and heat transfer
Required Education and/or Experience
BS or above in Engineering discipline – mechanical or polymer science is preferred
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience with injection molded plastic components
Working knowledge of plastic injection mold tooling and processing
Design experience with fluid handling components for bioprocessing or life sciences applications
Familiarity with ISO13485 quality system
Experience performing DFMEA, PFMEA and process DOEs
Typically less than 10%, both international and domestic
