SDI is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work in a team designing: low noise electronics that operate in the frequency range of 1 MHz to 10 GHz, phase-lock loops and control systems, ARM microcontrollers, FPGA design, and systems integration.
Create new designs for products based on goals and specifications. Use Altium Designer for design and layout, of RF electronic circuits and PCBs. Breadboard, experiment and test to validate new concepts and designs.
Create and maintain design data for new and existing designs including drawings and assembly / test procedures for new and existing products.
Testing and measurement of phase-noise, amplitude noise, frequency stability, and sensitivity to environment (temperature, humidity, vibration, acceleration, magnetic field etc.).
Assist with manufacturing of instruments.
Troubleshoot production issues. Use continuous improvement strategies to identify and implement design and process improvements to improve performance, reliability and reduce costs.
U. S. Citizenship is required.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum B. S. degree in electrical engineering (M. S. preferred) from an accredited University, with strong emphasis on electrical design and software development.
Relevant experience in RF design and PCB layout is crucially important. The applicant must be able to work with Autodesk Inventor or Solid Works to integrate the electrical circuit boards with the mechanical design.
The candidate should have experience with hand tools used for mechanical and electronic construction, electronic test equipment such as the oscilloscope, spectrum and network analyzer. The candidate must be able to solder and assemble their own prototypes. The candidate must be familiar with phase noise measurements and frequency stability analysis.
The candidate should have experience programming microcontrollers in C. The candidate should have some experience programming and working with FPGAs.
Computer skills should include competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.
Ability to work successfully in diverse engineering teams.
Ability to multitask while staying focused in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Genesys, Microwave Office, MATLAB, Simulink, MathCad, Mathematica or National Instruments LabView.
Experience with COMSOL.
Data analysis skills.
Flexible and willing to take on whatever tasks are required.
IPC Certification or familiarity with J-STD-001 and IPC 610 helpful.
Experience with assembly fixture creation and improvement desired.
