The BDS Crew Systems Engineering team is seeking an Entry Level Crew Systems Engineer to join their team. This team is the engineering authority for Crew Station Design, Cockpit Displays, Cockpit Equipment and Pilot Escape System including the pyro-actuation for the F-15 Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet, T-45 Goshawk and AV8 Harrier. This position is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
The team works collaboratively with related engineering teams such as Forward Fuselage, Electrical, Environmental Control, Mechanisms, Thermal and Human Factors Engineering as well as with US Air Force and Navy Engineering and Defense Contract Management Agency personnel to develop fighter aircraft Crew Systems solutions.
Performing new design activities for these platforms in 3D Model Based definition and Model Based Assembly Instructions, supplier and shop floor manufacturing support, fleet upgrade retrofit designs and fleet support.
Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
Assists with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Mechanical Engineering degree highly preferred
Computer Aided Design experience
Computer Aided analysis experience
Experience with technical requirements flow down and execution
Typical Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
