This position drives all aspects of production through the machine shop/weld shop value stream. Responsibilities include Safety and Housekeeping, Quality, Production and Cost Control. This role is key to the Lean Value Stream and the flow of material throughout the production shop. The ability to interface with other departments and functions is critical to the success of the value stream.
Proven ability to lead, direct and train associates is a must. Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally and the use of technology to leverage this communication is vital. ________________________________________ Primary/Essential Responsibilities: • Coordinate the resources of the value stream to produce to schedule while meeting goals and objectives relative to quality assurance and efficiency to support continuous improvement, waste reduction and on-time delivery. • Ability to lead a diverse workforce of associates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is low volume-high mix with low repetition.
Flexibility of work schedule to include multiple shifts, holidays and weekends as required. • Ability to communicate professionally both written and verbally across multiple departments, cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration, harmonize resources to support continuous organizational advancements and create a world-class customer experience. • Ability to clearly communicate the goals and objectives of the business to the associates in a way that promotes teamwork and inspires continuous growth and drives operational excellence. • Proven ability to train and develop associates for career objectives as well as for depth and flexibility within the value stream.
Describe the minimum required education, experience (type and years), and skill/competencies • 5+ years of progressive supervisory experience in the machining and welding of stainless steel, titanium and nickel-based alloys. Experience to include business metrics consistent with a Lean environment. Must be a team player with a strong customer focus. Proven track record of root cause analysis and problem solving skills is a must.
- Safety training within the value stream, housekeeping (5S), TPM, quality product, production rates to meet schedule and customer needs, and a proven track record of managing to departmental budgets and performance metrics. • Proven ability to lead a team of professional craftsmen • Proven ability with computer programs and systems that are required to support the production process and interoffice exchanges.
