We have researched and developed new monitoring systems/technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions which involve nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.
There is a need for R&D Systems Engineers within 4 of the major organizations within our center:
The Space Flight Systems Program (06790) provides program and project management for the NNSA Global Burst Detection flight program along with several smaller space projects. Dedicated to enabling the Remote Sensing and Verification mission, this program provides satellite-borne sensor systems and research, development, test and evaluation products to detect and analyze remote signals from space for the mission owners.
Space Ground Systems Programs (06740) leads the design, development, and delivery of the operational ground segment of the USNDS. USNDS is a space-based remote sensing system designed to meet national security needs for both the warfighter and the treaty monitoring community, across the life cycle of these systems.
The primary goal of the Proliferation Detection Program (06750) is to grow our remote sensing impact on the national and international nuclear nonproliferation mission. This program provides remote sensing technologies and systems designed to identify violations to nonproliferation and arms control treaties, agreements, and norms. Systems extend our contributions to national technical means and capabilities in international arenas where appropriate.
The Remote Sensing Systems Group (06780) provides the technical capabilities that support mission deliveries for Monitoring Systems and Technology programs and other program areas across the Laboratories. This group performs full-lifecycle design, development, and realization of technologies and sensor systems to provide system solutions for our customers.
