Act as local expert on the selection of new hydraulic valves, pumps and motors. Work with existing hydraulic vendors to develop any new designs. Interpret vendor hydraulic schematics.
Work with electrical vendors to design any new electrical control systems.
Review all new drawings for structural integrity, weld call outs and material selection. Perform engineering calculations as needed to ensure that new designs are engineering sound.
Assist customer service with basic failure analysis as well as troubleshooting of hydraulic and electrical issues
Understand and be current with industry safety standards such as ASABE, ISO and SAE that affect the industry. Ensure all designs; existing and new adhere to the safety standards.
Perform various product testing such as gathering hydraulic flow and pressure data. Assist with field operation testing of new product.
Document projects for future reference (meeting notes, design reviews, etc.)
Review new vendor components for form, fit and function.
Support marketing personnel with pertinent information and data for bid specs, technical publications, etc.
Work daily with production personnel to resolve manufacturing and/or assembly issues.
Perform reviews of new parts/technical manuals.
On occasion, travel to dealerships and/or customer locations to review products.

Requirements:
BSME degree required. PE license is preferred.
Must have 5 - 10 years of previous mechanical engineering experience, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Familiar with manufacturing processes (welding, machining and assembly).
Must have knowledge of hydraulic components and electro-hydraulic design.
Basic understanding of 3-D solid design, layouts, assembly drawings and part drawings required.
Excellent computer skills to include proficiency on CAD software program; prefer Solid Works.
Knowledge of engineering design standards and manufacturing capabilities. Knowledge of Alamo Group product(s) and/or mowing/agricultural implements preferred.
Basic understanding of Bills of Materials structure.
Strong knowledge of steel raw materials and other materials.
Good math skills. Able to perform stress analysis, material selection and material sizing. Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to write or speak technical instructions.
Able to organize and prioritize own work schedule. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Able to work extra hours as needed to complete assignments.
Frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Standard office environment. Occasional to frequent walking in and around manufacturing plant, or outdoors for testing.
Occasional travel to research new products and/or demonstrate products as needed.
