DCG is seeking a Junior Test Engineer to support and execute software test plans for various projects supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The successful engineer will have experience in the coordination and execution of test events in accordance with approved test plans, procedures, and scripts. They will have knowledge and skills to ensure that the test environments are set up accurately and will be able to create test reports. The engineer must be able to test IT hardware, software, systems, and networks.
In this role, you will:
Support test plans and test cases by collaborating with architects, developers, other test engineers, and project managers
Create and manage test data for automated and manual test scripts
Perform manual and automated testing according to test plans
Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments
Support the design of test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures and develop automated testing tools
Assist with the development of testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
Document software defects using a bug tracking system
Perform initial debugging by reviewing configuration files, logs, or code to determine breakdown source
Document test procedures to ensure reliability and compliance with standards
Provide feedback and recommendations to more Senior Test Engineers on software usability and functionality
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other Technical disciplines, OR a minimum of 8 years equivalent work experience
Prefer 1-2 years of testing experience through a similar position or schooling
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology
Ability to adapt well to diverse environments and work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
Self-motivated, strong organizational skills and time management skills required
Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
Experience working for the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal organizations.
Experience using test automation tools, e.g., Rational Functional Tester, Rational Performance Tester, Team Foundation Server or HP tools, Rational Team Concert
