POSITION DESCRIPTION: Aerodynamics Engineer
COMPANY: Mahindra Automotive North America is an automotive design and engineering facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan that includes manufacturing for the “off road” vehicle “ROXOR”. MANA is part of automotive sector within the global Mahindra group.

SCOPE AND GENERAL SUMMARY:
Lead vehicle program aerodynamic development efforts. Estimate drag, lift and other aerodynamic deliverables. Evaluate automobile exterior with focus on aerodynamics and aeroacoustics. Pro-actively develop simulations for new programs based on vehicle content and functional objectives. Clearly post process and interpret simulation results to identify current performance and develop areas of improvements. Integrate and balance requirements with front end cooling air flow, sealing, brake cooling, thermal and wind noise using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Management, suppliers, customers, and internal customers will all interact with this role (Engineering, Finance, Business Development, Marketing, Quality, Program Management, Manufacturing, Human Resources, etc.). If necessary, there may also be interaction with possible contractors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interface and collaborate with Studio and Engineering Teams.
Present numerical and visual data recommendations effectively to ensure that component and system level performance requirements are met.
Fully engage in vehicle development activity and proactively take ownership of simulation activity to best guide the design team.
Daily use of several commercial CFD codes, 1D solvers and supporting software in Windows, LINUX/UNIX and HPC environment. These include ANSA, STAR-CCM+, EXA-POWERFLOW, OpenFOAM, UltraFluidX and other Internal Codes.
Identify, develop, and execute new aerodynamic design processes to support business initiatives.
Support development, enhancements and deployment of new analytical methods and processes related to vehicle aerodynamic development.
Ensuring use of best practices and maximize use of cost-effective CAE tools and techniques, train other engineers.
SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Demonstrated ability to lead vehicle aerodynamic development efforts.
Experience/knowledge of aerodynamics and aero-acoustics CFD methodology and applications.
Familiarity with Aerodynamic and Wind Tunnel testing, measurement techniques and data systems
Experience using commercial CFD solvers such as FLUENT, STAR-CCM, EXA-POWERFLOW, OPEN FOAM, UltraFluidX and Mesh generators such as ANSA, HYPERWORKS.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors + 10 year experience, Masters or Ph.D + 5 years’ experience in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering with focus on Aerodynamics/Thermal Sciences.
