Participating in research, development, analysis and problem solving skills, the Mechanical Engineer will act as a point of contact for all mechanical development activities. Knowledgeable of regulatory requirements, specifications and the ability to provide oversight to installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure parts and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
Act as an expert and point of contact for all mechanical development activities from cradle to grave.
Research, develop, analyze and troubleshoot designs, specifications, manuals and data relevant to product lines.
Collaborate with engineers and other personnel or departments to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical support as needed.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and reports.
Stay abreast of global regulatory requirements which may affect control system design of product lines.
Perform mechanical calculations, write reports and create models to meet defined performance, efficiency, life cycle and quality objectives.
Investigate failures and make recommendations, implement changes or and/or develop product enhancements.
Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure parts and equipment are installed and functioning according to product specifications.
Work with design teams to meet project timelines, cost, quality and reliability objectives.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree AND 3+ years of degreed experience in product design; Master’s degree preferred.
Prior experience in automotive, industrial equipment, material handling, agriculture or similar industry.
Expertise in computer aided modeling tools such as CAD, 3DVIA, Matlab, and/or Simulink; Pro E/Creo experience preferred.
Experience with electric circuit design analysis tools such as Saber; ProCabling and RSD preferred.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals and analytical methods with a strong background in product development processes as well as practical understanding of manufacturing methods, tolerances and processes.
Knowledge of electric motors for traction and hydraulic functions in mobile applications.
Hands on test lab experience including EMC design and testing.
Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Strong attention to detail, exceptional organization skills and the ability to manage workload and deadlines.
Exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
Advanced computer literacy, including data analysis, project planning and presentations.
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.
