For over forty years, Gaston & Wyatt has quietly built a reputation as one of the country’s leading providers of architectural millwork, windows, doors and other products from our home in Charlottesville, VA. Our award-winning work has been featured in numerous national publications such as Architectural Digest, Veranda and House Beautiful. We are now seeking an Estimator to join our growing team.
As an estimator, you will be part of a broad organization, including sales, project management, engineering, production and finance. You will be responsible for formulating a detailed breakdown of the labor and material that will be required on a particular project. The estimates you help prepare will be a key factor as to whether we are awarded a project, as well as how we perform on a job once in house. Your role is critical, and you will have a direct connection between our company and our most important customers. If you are the type of person that gets more determined and focused when the pressure is on and can stay on top of multiple details, you may be what we are looking for.
Experience as an estimator is not necessarily required, but certainly welcome. Collaboration with our engineers and shop floor and access to historical data will allow you to hone your estimates to match the reality of how we actually construct our work – our team will be there to help you as you learn and grow. A great spatial sense is something you must bring to the table – a capacity to apply that to architectural drawings is a critical part of the job. Excellent oral and written skills are non-negotiable and an ability to work in Excel, Word and other common office applications is assumed. Familiarity with our estimating software, ProjectPak, is a plus but we can teach you as long as you bring a complete ease and comfort with technology. A background in architecture and/or construction would be of benefit.
We are constantly looking to improve and provide more value and service to our customers. What that means for the Estimator position is that you will face challenges every single day and, because you are on the front line of project acceptance, will be leading the charge of what we can and will deliver to the customer. For those that step up to the challenge of this role and succeed, the reward will be increased responsibility and pay and benefits at the top of the industry. We function as a large family and win together through an extraordinary incentive program tied to overall company performance. We also offer a full array of other benefits, including health insurance, generous time off and a 401k match.
If interested, please reply with a resume and a cover letter explaining why you are interested in the position. Inquiries without these will not be considered.
