Continuous Composites is on the forefront of additive manufacturing technology using a novel, continuous fiber-based, 3D printing process. Our engineering team is looking for an experienced and talented Materials Engineer to further this technology, working in a challenging, fast-paced, friendly, and cross-functional work environment.
Your role on the team
The Materials Engineer will be the in-house materials expert, responsible for coordinating and conducting the research and development that goes into creating the next generation of resins. Job duties will range from formulating new resins, analyzing materials, conducting tests, troubleshooting, monitoring performance, ensuring quality control, and creating documentation. The candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplined team of mechanical engineers, controls engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and material partners to develop the next generation of CF3D.
What we're looking for
M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with formulating, analyzing, testing, and modeling IV initiated polymer materials.
Experience with FTIR, Z-potential, TGA, GPC, MFI, DSC, DMA, rheometer, Viscometer, NMR, XRD, GC,HPLC, Flexural and Tensile testing.
Knowledge of ASTM Composite Standards.
Demonstrated ability to create, conduct, and report material tests in an organized and clear manner.
Ability to understand and analyze our unique process and its components as well as predict and model how changes to the materials will affect them.
Knowledge of safe laboratory practice and handling of chemicals.
Strong desire to work for an early age startup company on disruptive technologies and make it a success.
Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis - ability to secure US government security clearance if needed
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience within the composites industry, with deep knowledge of the processes and materials commonly used.
Familiarity with additive manufacturing and its associated materials and processes.
Efficient in excel and other data analysis platforms.
Familiar with ACMs including PCMs, CMCs and MMCs.
