Supports senior technical personnel and project managers within own organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development. Receives general supervision from management as well as technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff. Specifically, supports Amphibious Warfare Program Office as propulsion and drivetrain specialist for Assault Craft Vehicle (ACV) Powertrain Engineering Manager.
Develop correspondence with engineering justifications for LCAC/SSC
Participate in all technical reviews and Configuration Control Board (CCB) reviews, including meeting minutes and action item follow-up
Research, edit, and process Technical Scope Reviews (TSRs) and Task Planning Sheets (TPSs) drafted by the In Service Engineering Agent(s) (ISEA) and the Planning Yard (PY)
Provide assessment, analysis and recommend advanced technology solutions for new, modified and enhanced capability systems, including: engine, gearboxes, lift fans, propellers, turbine, compressor, and drive train controls
Develop engineering plans for removal and replacement of craft systems
Providing solutions for aged, worn, cracked, or unserviceable equipment, and provide recommendations for modifications
Act as subject matter expert in all areas related to the SSC drivetrain
Review test plans and reports from ISEAs to support the overall schedule
Work several different types of tasking simultaneously i.e. priority items and routine tasking
Assist technical team members with emergent issues
Maintain overall program status for cognizant technical areas.
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
An active Secret Security Clearance is not required but highly desired.
