We are seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and maintain tools that streamline our research and development efforts. As an essential part of our data science team this role will help our researchers develop a pipeline of products to support the agricultural community.
This position will focus on data hygiene practices and the implementation of our internal knowledge base infrastructure. As a data driven company, this Data Engineer will be instrumental in aiding in the creation of our next generation products.
Independently design and develop data, software, or technology solutions to answer scientific or business questions.
Collaborate with research scientists to identify and understand their analytical and informatics needs and translate these into solutions.
Work closely with bioinformatics team to bridge data management and usage across internal laboratory data systems.
Develop data flow, structure and best methods to capture and input data.
Curate internal protocols and internally generated data while prototyping ETL pipelines.
Work with scientists to develop practices to quality control internally generated data.
Maintain a working knowledge of technologies, development tools, practices, methods and libraries relevant to software engineering and data science.
Bachelors or Masters in Biological Sciences or related subjects, or equivalent experience requiring understanding of molecular biology and related terminology.
4+ years professional programming experience demonstrating proficiency across a range of technologies related to programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, visualization and analytics.
Experience using a web framework to build large fully tested applications (e.g. Django, Tornado, Pyramid).
Strong working knowledge of SQL best practices including but not limited to schema design, query optimization, and migration management.
Experience with Python science and math libraries such as Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, pytorch, etc.
Collaborative team player with ability to acquire and review information quickly with strong attention to detail.
